can someone explain to me what an american accent is? ive always thought that americans/canadians to a lesser extent dont really have an accent and thus the american accent is actually the lack of one, but this doesnt seem right. maybe its just cuz ive lived in america my whole life that i dont notice it or something? please help

Multiple accents exist within some countries. We have the Newfies, and then some people say we (those on the prairies) have a totally different one. Then the US has many different ones... I was under the impression that central Canada had the least noticeable accent thus we had all the call centers.
