Point is Diablo is the progenitor and the standard, so if you like Hack and Slash at all you love Diablo.

It's like liking the Shins without liking The New Pornographers.

Actually, Diablo was based on Nethack... Blizzard admitted this themselves.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Eschatos - 06-28-2008

Just watched a 20 minute demonstration.  It looks really fun and pretty, though fairly standard for the genre.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Wedge - 06-28-2008

I hate RTS and Diablo didn't play massively different from a number of other such games out there to me, so I never cared for Blizzard stuff that much.  Unless they're gonna bring back a new LOST VIKINGS.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Luinbariel - 06-28-2008

All I care about is loot; I can't wait to see all the crazy stuff I'll find.

That's all I ever cared about in any diablo title thus far; finding stuff. It was like a treasure hunt. :3

A friend of mine in college told me that people are naturally collectors.  They enjoy collecting things.  So smart developers work in collecting something in their games.  Points, achievements, loot, trophies etc.  He was looking to work for EA by the way.

Anyways it explains a lot when you think about it.

Fuck that noise, I hate collecting shit in games.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Luinbariel - 06-28-2008

I really only like collecting things like... gems. I am actually an amateur geologist and overall rock enthusiast, and so finding gems in the game is like finding a bag of fucking candy for me. I could care less about points and the like.

I know what you mean though. It seemed to me that WoW was really based on collection; getting the best of everything and doing all the work to get it. I couldn't be assed because there was nothing to collect that INTERESTED me like rocks do in real life I guess.

In before Caffeine brags about how he loves collecting Pokemon....

Oh, and another female who likes to look at rocks.  Where did I hear that recently...

What about Dimanche de Diablo?  (though that's Sunday)

Sounds good to me; Sundays were always tabletop days and so it fits in my books. Though it's nothing like tabletop... >.>

Also I said looking at rocks was a hobby, not a job; I -DO- have time for other stuff. I'm more interested in new-age kinda rock crap, and grew up in a town that was all about rocks; that was its only tourist attraction, besides a big suspension bridge.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Eschatos - 06-29-2008

Sunday doesn't really work for me.  I'd prefer to keep it Wednesday.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - cbre88x - 06-29-2008

If we add a day for Diablo 3 or maybe even Starcraft 2, I will buy and (reluctantly) pay for battlenet.

Re: Blizzard announces Diablo III - Wedge - 06-29-2008

I'll be playing Mythos, on account of it being free and all >.>'

Is Blizzard going to start charging for Battle.net service with SC2 and D3?  ???

I watched the D3 trailer and intro video and that shit looks sick! I can't wait till it comes out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to be out by at least Christmas season 2009.. pretty please, with cherry on top.

I don't know..I just keep hearing you have to pay to use the battlenet system for any game (their online system right)? But I don't know..label me a n00b in this regard since I haven't played a Blizzard game besides very briefly playing Diablo 2 a few years ago.
