Welp. Guess I gotta buy New Vegas now. Time for some Melee only action to take my Fallout 2 nostalgia even farther.

melee is amazing. 9 str 50 melee, 3 swings from a baseball bat takes down most shit at level 5.

I gave the...not Power Fist, but starts with a B, the Praetorian Guards have it, but I gave it to Boone and he like one hits everything that isn't like...a Deathclaw or Super Mutant lol

Boone seriously rapes face.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Vandamguy - 10-22-2010

so melee is viable in this game ?
i remember playing F3 and getting that flame sword and using it the whole way through and being extremely bored.

Never play melee myself, but I think it could be for this one.  There's some pretty nice weapons for both ranged and melee.  I sold off some pretty snazzy melee weapons I came across.  I think the game still is abit geared to range abit more, but I might give it a try for my next playthrough perhaps.

*EDIT*
Also they needed more music for this game I think.  Stuff really starts to repeat itself too fast.  I'm so tired of that Texas Ranger song lol Time to turn off Mr. New Vegas and put a shuffle of Apocalyptica on! New Vegas is about to get epic.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - beep beep diglett - 10-22-2010

melee is very viable, shitload of melee weapons in this one and they're almost all cool as hell, one of the best ones is a thermal lance, bigass welding torch type thing that sets people on fire, and ofc there's a fuckin chainsaw.

yeah but there's seriously like a total of 6 songs, i swear to god. big iron, some song i dunno the name of, and lone ranger on the country station, and johnny guitar, heartbreak, and spurs on new vegas radio

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Maxon - 10-22-2010

Yeah I have no problem with Mr. Vegas, the songs just start to get ingrained into my brain and drive me nuts.  I can only listen to a song a dozen times in a playthrough before I've had enough.

Also, score.  I have two companions now! Boone with a Power Fist and Power Armor and then Rex, the cyber dog Big Grin

*EDIT*
Also, need a wee bit of help...SPOILERS

Am I supposed to destroy the Brotherhood to move on with the story?  I was kinda not wanting to, but it seems to be the only main mission I can find to do without going bad...though this seems like a bad thing to do also.  Am I missing a mission from someone in like the NCR for like the Hoover Dam battle or is that what this Brotherhood mission will lead up to?

I like Veronica with the Power Fist more. Although it did scare the crap out of me first when I'm walking and all of a sudden she one shots an enemy and the cinematic killcam pops up.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Maxon - 10-23-2010

I'm using whatever Fist the guards of Caeser have which is better than the Power Fist.  And yes! Those kill cam shots can scare the crap out of me at times lol

i think the only thing that scared me more is when you first run into the nightkin.

i can help you with yo PRABLEMS

afaik yes, the only way to move on is by destroying them, but i suspect if you install the head paladin as the elder you get more quests to do finish that bit without killing them.

found some neat stuff, minor spoilers, nothing story related

in the NCR camp outside vegas, there's a merchant dude in the concourse. hack his computer and get evidence he's stealing shit, then turn him into the MP incharge of prisoners (forgot her name, sorry) and you will get an M1 Garand. it uses .308 and does something like 70 dmg a hit, so it's basically a sniper rifle without a scope and 3 extra shots. it also has the trademark PING! noise when you reload it so no matter how much damage it does, it's worth it.

east of the gun runners shop outside of vegas, there's the new vegas clinic, run by followers of the apocalypse. the doctor there'll sell you implants, which boost your attributes for 4k each. you're limited only by money and total endurance score, that equals the max you can get (so if you've got 5 endurance you can get 5 implants) there's also special implants, one that gives you +4 DT for 8k, and one that gives you constant health regen for 12k.

Yeah what's up with the lack of music? With the subject matter you'd think it'd be easy to fill out a soundtrack a little better.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Maxon - 10-23-2010

Should've had songs from 3 also.  Not that I didn't hear those a million times, but combined with the new ones, it would've spread songs out more.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - Versus - 10-23-2010

played a few hours, pretty good so far

When I extracted the BSA there were like 10 original songs and I've only heard a couple so far. I liked the original stuff except the I'm Tickled Pink song from 3 and this seems mostly more of the same. Very jazzy and brassy

Re: Fallout: New Vegas - [SiN] Merc - 10-24-2010

Late to the party, I know, but anyone else have trouble on the "Keep your eyes on the prize" mission? God bless, that was retarded to do as melee only. And I'm sure just being level 4 didn't help wonders either. Eff you Nipton, I'm sure you were a bad town before those Legion fellas got there regardless.
