Only one store around me is selling the Imperials, so I guess it's time to make a special trip to stock up and give these things a try...

Dipped into this on the weekend. Deadly stuff... it's so sweet you forget you're drinking straight vodka... Man, I was pretty hungover on Saturday. Smile

Tip if you want to follow that recipe: use cheese cloth instead of coffee filters to separate the white center candy. Coffee filters (at least all the different ones I tried) are too fine. Just cut like 4 or 5 strips of cheese cloth and lay them on top of each other crisscrossing (so the filter better). Works great, easy enough to clean and reuse, and they're even strong enough that you can wring out all the vodka when you're done. Smile

I'm a whiskey man, myself.  Crown Royal is delicious.

I accidentally spent $42 on beer today. I got two beers by that Quebec company Benito raves about. Ephemere and Le Fin Du Monde. Then I got some Gulden Drak and some Heresy by this brewer called weyerbak or something I really liked.

Re: Beer Thread - A. Crow - 09-07-2009

This place is chocked full of microbrews, and all of them seem to be pretty good.

Re: Beer Thread - Surf314 - 09-07-2009

OK the brewery's name is Weyerbacher and it makes really really fucking good beer. I'm drinking the heresy right now. It is black as sin and extremely smokey. It's like drinking a barbeque. My wife hates it, she said it's like licking a grill.

This is one delicious grill.

3 years 'till my first pint of pure Irish Guinness. In the meantime, I aggressively patiently wait for it, that and my goddamn graphics card... Hopefully it won't take that long...

Great tasting and an incredibly high alcohol content (11.3% ABV)

Thats rare. High alcohol content is often detrimental to the taste of a beer.

Yeah some critics don't like the 10 because of that reason so they usually go with the 8 or the 6.  But I thought the Rochefort 10 still tasted great regardless....

I really liked the Scaldis when I tried it and that has a slightly higher alcohol content.
