Re: StarCraft II! - zaneyard - 06-29-2009

lucky
of course I'm interested in knowing when the BETA is Smile

so the queen is a ground unit now right?
also, i don't quite understand how nydus canals work in conjunction with the nydus worm
from BR3, i understand the infester to temporarily mind control an enemy unit, is this correct?
"My favorite was the new Zerg unit that basically melted its opponents." Baneling?

not sure how much you would know about it, but what is the projected minimum system requirements for the game?

Seeing how Blizzard is only comparable to Valve in terms of timescales... This year == Next year.

Even then, it's not like any of us got in... :-\

Beta is tentatively planned for "summer".
From what I saw, the nydus worms basically are the transport vehicles for the nydus networks. You can't move them around, but you load your units into them and they move around to all the different networks you own. (When I played zerg, I mostly focused on hydralisk/mutalisk building, so I didn't mess around with the networks. BTW, me and Giant Bomb owned in 2v2.) This has the best explanation -- http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Nydus_worm

I believe the infestor can mind control for 10 seconds. I dunno if this'll make it to the beta, or the final game though.

that clears up a lot with the nydus stuff. basically it's the original nydus canal but a bit better.

thanks aerox

Pretty much. The only drawback is that I don't think you can build it on opposing player's creep anymore. I might be wrong about that though.

i think the new way they are using it is better
nydus canals were so useless in MP in the first game
it seems like they are making it more 'accessible' and easier to use

seriously though, if it doesnt run on my P4 when i get the game, im taking out a loan and building a computer the next damn day if i have to.

Never really got into them. I played the first Age of Empires way back when it first came out and I own Company of Heroes. I just haven't found the game that really gets me into them. For instance, I used to be kind of shy about platformer games. I bought a Ratchet and Clank game and I'm itching to try some other popular platformers. I've thought about giving Starcraft 2 a try when it comes out, but it just depends.

well if you want some company Sponson, J and I will def. be playing it. pretty sure there are a few others in brbu that play SC. dunno how often though
if you ever wanna try it out we would be happy to help you, it's like 20 bucks on amazon or you could just grab the image that i made and we can play over hamachi

Im pretty sure Spyro the Dragon got me into platformers way back when. that or crash bandicoot.

I might find StarCraft... it depends on when StarCraft II is released tho. I'll have to read into it some.

if you just wanna try it out i can lend you the image i made of the game

otherwise iCCup (international cyber cup) one of the top tourney ladders hosts a zip file of the game
im pretty sure if blizzard cared they would ask them to take the file down
http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/sc_start.html
like it says you wont be able to play on the Battle.net servers, but we could all play on hamachi if we want

Re: StarCraft II! - KarthXLR - 06-29-2009

My friend and I will wile away the hours comp-stomping on SC2 just as we have on SC.  Human opponents are too scary.

to the both of you: that's why me and sponson practice together
it's more fun than getting stomped by a random person and you can talk to each other about what you did wrong

Re: StarCraft II! - zaneyard - 06-29-2009

so apparently LAN is not going to be supported in SCII
lame

Why the hell not?  Why make people have to go to the internet if they're at a LAN party?  People still play RTSs at LAN parties, don't they?  Why force them to have to connect to a gateway?

Re: StarCraft II! - Aerox - 06-29-2009

My guess would be so everyone doesn't pirate it and play through Hamachi.
