Funny thing.. i've got a 1981 Volkswagen Black Beetle but no license.

Bought it for 400$, it was a deal i couldn't refuse.. but i'm really insecure while driving, so i'm afraid of doing it.

Insecure drivers are like obstacles on an obstacle course. Except that they have no predictable movements and might kill you.

Get un-insecure.

Performance driving schools allow you to safely learn how your car performs, and how to control it in drastic situations all the while in a safe and controlled environment.

That was put in place due to "nipplegate", I really wish Americans would give up the communal delusion and lipservice to decency and just admit that we're all dirty bastards. Because we are.

Took a special course like that one, but no matter what i did, i always panicked everytime there was a truck or bus near. Also, since my car is little and kinda light, everytime a bus or truck passed on the next track i feel the push really hard and that's what really desperated me. :/

I don't know what to do, and i really need to start driving

Buses and trucks are not to be feared. They are generally slow, peaceful creatures who can be easily passed. The only real danger comes into play if you zone out and decide to ride in their blind spot for a few minutes, because there is a possibility that they might forget you exist.

When you drive, you have to be assertive. Hold your own on the road. Make a decision, quickly assess the immediate surrounding (blind spot if you're inserting yourself into traffic, etc.), and go for it. Being insecure not only endangers yourself by making you nervous, but also endangers those driving around you. The car you drive really doesn't matter in most situations. I've seen plenty of shitty drivers in sports cars, and plenty of confident drivers in minivans and beaters.

The best way to overcome this is just to drive more. Drive in familiar areas at first so you can pay attention to other cars without worrying about your whereabouts. Then move onto other driving situations, such as freeways with heavy traffic, and so forth. I also recommend driving on your own, without a copilot. Copilots can cause you to lose confidence in your own decisions behind the wheel if you're already insecure.

Also, use turn signals and don't break randomly when there is nothing in front of you that would necessitate the use of your breaks. Because that shit pisses me off.

FGS this. I fucking hate people who just randomly break because they don't understand that by simply having your foot off the gas you will slow down, or because they just don't have a clue what is going on and impulsively break all the time. It also wears out your breaks and causes everyone behind you to go "WTF WHY IS HE BREAKING?!"

And the same applies to people who RIDE their breaks down hills. That's terrible for your breaks and it's not needed at all. If you really are speeding out of control and need to slow down (aka increasing speed to 10mph+ more than your limit) then tap your breaks to slow down or run your car in a lower gear setting (which will slow your engine down).

Which is also why using turn signals is important... and use them BEFORE you start stopping.

Arrghh

EDIT: Sorry this probably isn't helping your situation. I do delivery for my job so yeah I have to deal with terrible drivers everyday I work, most of which are either old people, soccer moms, or black female drivers on their cell phones.

I have a BMW so none of this applies to me. I cut across 4 lanes of traffic with no turn signal and drive a minimum of 15mph over the limit.

^-That.

Except when cops are around.

Then proceed to insert yourself into traffic as far away from the now-merging cop as you can. I swear, that saved me a ticket last week. I think the cop ended up pulling over the guy behind me instead solely for the sake of convenience... I'm quite sure it was me who initially roused him into action.

:-X

My three MSP430 Launchpad μC devkits came in today, combined with the extra samples I received last week and the pile of components and breadboards I have from Senior Design, I look forward to making some random yet interesting shit without resorting to arduino cred.
