Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - TOH - 08-01-2012

Applied for a job that matched my skills and experience just about perfectly, got contacted by their HR guy, scheduled a day for me to call him, I did so, no answer. Left voicemail, e-mailed, tried to follow up, no response. My referrer said the HR guy was passing the resume to the department the job was posted for, but I was still never contacted directly.

Checked the job postings this morning as I do every couple days. The position's not there anymore. Fuck. The site does have my application as active, but...fuck, not a good feeling after all this. Really want that position. I know I shouldn't get too attached to a job I didn't have, but damn it...

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - at0m - 08-01-2012

Can your referrer give you contact information for the department, or someone else in HR, so you can follow up with them?

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - KarthXLR - 08-01-2012

My GM completely kicked me off the schedule for my last week of work. My paycheck is going to be almost worthless.  :'(

Asking about it. Not going to give up until I get a definitive no here.

I'm just trying to find work and I'll never bring my resume to an unprofessional job again, I was told I was overqualified and should look for work in my field of study the problem there is that nobody is hiring entry level jobs in my field in this area. :/

I applied today for a shuttle bus driving position that has full benefits so hopefully I get that job.

P.S. I really think I went into the wrong field when I went to school and just figured that out too late to pull out, no pun intended.

I just glad my therapist was able to get me in tomorrow I really need to talk to someone I trust and am not worried about crying in front of.

May I ask what your field is and have you been using a staffing firm?

I've gotten all of my positions through staffing firms, I got one offer once with my own work, but ended up turning it down.

Like I said I really don't like the degrees I graduated with. I feel that my time at college was a waste of time and money other then gaining some great friends that I never see anymore.

I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology and an A.S. in Robotics Engineering Technology, both of witch I liked only 1 thing, designing circuit boards which their in lies a problem that wasn't a core item they teach so I have very limited knowledge in it and their a very, very few jobs that deal just with that and you can't find them.

I'm just really stressed right now and just want a damn job.

A year ago today, my father died of cancer. I'd like to say that not a day goes by that I don't think of him, but it simply isn't true. I feel guilty about that, doubly so on the days that I run into a situation I would've benefited from his advice on, or just want to hear the sound of his voice, to hear how excited he always was about what was going on in my adult life.

I miss you, dad.

Not Exactly FML, but it could be.

I'm working for a professor at my uni atm. I help him doing some reports for a company he owns because he doesn't have time for this client. I'm earning a decent amount and i only work 4 days a month.  But yesterday I got a mail from him asking how long did it take for me to do those reports. I answered the real time (aka not that much) later realizing I screwed it up, because he might be considering taking this client back.

I'm scared :<

If there is an afterlife or what the fuck ever I would think he would not want you to dwell. I don't know but if I died I would be insulted if people were not sad but I would be sad for them if they did not move on. I am not saying forget about him by any amount just that he would understand you not thinking of him every single moment. I'm sorry for your loss.

My dog is probably going to die soon.

Edit: Just got told by my parents that I'm right. Her white blood cell count is dangerously low and she's very close to dying. They told me we probably need to put her down. Tomorrow may be the last time I ever see her.

This is what it means when people say, "He lives in you." His thoughts, his interests, his inquiries, his excitements live on in you.

You're the only one who holds those types of memories. Carry them with care.

My xbox did that. It was covered under the uber warranty deal. No clue if they're still doing that though.
