I had to work late last night, and my brother didn't call me for my bday yesterday.

[/quote]Come visit, I actually think you'd like the area where I live. 5-10 minute drive in three cardinal directions puts you in the woods. 20 minutes south puts you downtown.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Versus - 04-17-2013

i would really really hate living in the middle of nowhere, medium-large city at least

I love my time in the mid-atlantic, in the cradle of liberty.

I think this whole country is great, even the parts that I don't quite fit in.

This makes me want to travel more.

Had to go up against the new Tau Codex in 40K tonight.
Fuck Riptides.
And Supporting Fire.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Dr. Zaius - 04-17-2013

To be fair, I absolutely loved living in Chicago. It's got everything you need assuming you can find a job. I wasn't able to, though.
I guess it's more of a 'hindsight is 20/20' scenario. I didn't mind the Chicago suburbs either, growing up. But now, and here? I fucking hate North Dakota, Minot, and all the people that I'm forced to share this desolate tundra with. Call me crazy.

Also, Tau own hard.

Ankle deep water in my apartment, still rising

The Good
- My uber-box and all of its data are safe
- Laptop is safe
- Vast majority of my sewing stuff is in bins
- con stuff was packed and on my landing at ground level
- Clothing is pretty high too
- As are most of my other electronics
- I have Renter's Insurance that covers up to $25,000 in damages to my personal property in the apartment, claim has already been started.
- 420 moved and well hidden

The Bad
- RIP Genesis
- RIP NES
- RIP All those power cables and cords
- Whole place will need to be cleaned and scrubbed down
- Couches fucked
- Major appliances likely ruined, this is on the landlord to fix/replace though
- RIP SNES

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - A. Crow - 04-18-2013

is this just from heavy rains?

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Dr. Zaius - 04-18-2013

god no not the genesis  :-X

flooding apparently even in my old town, so i'm guessing it's most of illinois/midwest that's getting pissed on hard.

That plus subpump failure

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - A. Crow - 04-18-2013

who's sump pump?  Because you should be threatening them with litigation before making a claim against your own insurance.

most of the time those fail due to lack of maintenance (not covered by warranty) or power failure (not covered by warranty).

A crack developed in my childhood home's foundation last week, so there's ankle deep water in my mom's house right now too. This is the backyard.

The building's subpump, you cant go throwing around lawsuits for that sort of thing i dont think. Either way I have renter's insurance that is basiacally a catch-all for shit damaged in an apartment due to theft/fire/floor/whatever. $500 Deductible, up to $25,000 in claims. Likely with having to replace my bedframe, box springs, couches, it will come out to a few thousand in damages I can claim.
