Family has been here about thirty years now.

I came down for the weekend, and found out we were already moving buildings to the new lot. The new place is actually quite awesome and my parents are now no longer as upset. Now they are excited for the new life that comes next.

Glad to hear things are working out OK.  I still think the last thing removed before leaving for good should be the landowner's ear.

Wow. that's crazy. I still remember the tree forts I made that lasted 2 years. I can't imagine them lasting as long as yours had.

I think my oldest niece helped; she added to it and fixed it up in the years after I moved out and grew up a bit. But she didn't want to leave it behind either, so we tore it down.

There was actually another one back in the bush we wanted to get at but the fear of woodticks kept us out. It was a shittier after-fort anyway.

Naw.

We spent the whole weekend joking about all the things we'd like to do there before we leave. But I think my mom made a good point. They've always had a good reputation for being clean, good people; they aren't going to wreck it for these dicks.

We are taking our house, so... no?

Currently it's all in a big stack in between the trees, right in the way if they need to use the space there to drive between.

this is much preferable to them trying to salvage parts.

Preferable for you, the person who lives there, not preferable for the person paying for it.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - CaffeinePowered - 05-14-2013

Parents outright refused to let Rose and I use the house as crash space post-ACEN, citing mostly privacy and that 'she wouldn't like it, think of her, if she says its ok she's clearly lying'

I just don't know entirely what to think of that logic, she was incredibly weird last year when Serain stayed for just one night and at the time we had the basement open. At the moment its torn up due to the carpet getting ruined.

Is crash space for a few days where we'd spend most of it out and about really that unreasonable of an expectation? We've just drifted so far apart in terms of logic and moral compasses she thinks that I'm clueless and selfish in this matter; whereas I feel like I'm trying to make the most of a shitty situation getting the most for the two of us without either spending a bunch of money and hopefully having a small impact if we spend most of the day out and about.

Like, serious non-hugbox/echo chamber answers, if I'm being an asshat in thinking that's ok, Id want to know.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - A. Crow - 05-14-2013

When you said "crash pad" you might have meant, "hey, can I have some company over for a couple days."  when they heard, "Mom, Dad, I need a place for my post anime weirdness drug fueled sex orgy."

I never actually used that term with them, they make the rules and its over and done with, but that doesn't mean I can't feel that the rules are unreasonable (or on the flip side they are reasonable and Im just being a gigantic dick for thinking otherwise)

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Evil Cheese - 05-14-2013

If your parents are anything like mine I can see why they have a problem with it. I'm sure they realize you're a grown man with your own life, but at the same time I see why they might be uncomfortable with their son fucking girls they don't know in their basement.  If I was crashing at my parents' place I know they would have issues with me bringing girls over too. Not to mention feeling incredibly awkward about it myself.

While it may not be the the most cost effective option, go do what every high schooler on prom night does in those situations. Go rent a hotel room. If you're on a budget, you can even look into renting out a hostel room, although I would definitely check with your lady first about that. Hotel sex is great since you can go wild and not worry about being too loud/messy. This way you can have your mind-blowing sex without any of the awkward feels with your parents.

Oh I already booked a place, and to be honest if we were staying at home there would be no fucking, that goes without saying. Just grabbed a room at an extended stay, between it and staying at a place near the airport the last night, its ~$500 I did not want to spend on top of the already pricy back to back ACEN and Fanime trips.

This wouldn't be an issue at all if I didn't get 2 feet of water in my apartment about a month ago :/

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Evil Cheese - 05-14-2013

Maybe that's the heart of the issue then. There's an assumption being made by your parents and it makes them uncomfortable. I'm not sure what you've talked to them about, but that might be worth mentioning.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - zaneyard - 05-14-2013

Wow that's stupid as fuck. I guess I'm spoiled cause my dad is cool shit (woke him up one night and he just turns on the AC to drown out the noise and goes back to bed).

Your parents are dicks. Well, they might not be complete dicks, but they are being dicks about this. Some terrible logic behind that.
