I miss playing video games with you guys.

Bunch of people are playing CSGO pretty regularly, among some other games like Payday and such, be online...maybe idle on mumble and watch for people to sign in?
It's less about actually playing with you guys and more about not having enough time to spare. Really hoping Smash picks it up.
I heard the cool kids are playing Destiny
Not buying a PS4 for Destiny.
Get the new Borderlands or Civ when they come out, and I'll happily join you.
Never played a Civ game before and I didn't like Borderlands 2. Might take you up on the former.

This is the worst possible weekend to be without Internet. But don't worry, they'll get someone here on THURSDAY.

Fucking comcast

Modern business has been revolutionized by the advent of the Internet. Traditionally, to acquire a service or a good, or make and receive payments, one had to physically visit a respective corresponding establishment, be it a store or a bank. Nowadays, it is possible to achieve the same results without ever having to leave your desk.

The ability to receive payments online is key to any business looking to tap into the wealth and opportunities provided by the digital era. As a result, several highly regarded online payment processing services have emerged over the years.

The clear front-runner among these service providers is PayPal. Founded in 1998, PayPal has flourished into an internationally successful service used in 203 world markets and allows users to send, receive and hold funds in 26 different currencies.

However, PayPal’s success has not been without controversy: there are several alleged cases of PayPal freezing accounts and their funds for no apparent reason. This and other common criticisms, such as having to navigate away from the vendor website to use the PayPal application, have spurred several alternatives, with Stripe being the most notable example.

All of my schooling could not prepare me for how fucking much I don't want to write this report.

Start with an outline of statements and supports.  Once you have them all down they should present some logical structure, and after that it's simply a matter of connecting them with real sentences, which is easy at that point. In my experience this is the easiest way to write any paper.

Also I think "respective corresponding" is redundant.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Surf314 - 10-07-2014

The topic sentence structure is by far the easiest way to write anything. It becomes a formula after that. You start with your big points - those are your headings. Then you make a list of every idea you want to get across. Make sure the ideas are specific and don't compound them. Explain every idea and support it with facts, then move on to the next idea. If its a complex idea you break it into its parts and put it in order.

Source: I write a lot of high level shit and do it fast and with good quality.

Fantastic.

New desk trinket for work arrived in the mail today.

+2 hours, trinket falls out of stand, bounces off end table and breaks on hardwood floor.

this infuriates me more than it probably should.

Last week my coworker put in his two week notice, today my boss put in hers.

This could be both an FML or a Made My Day, really depends on how opportunities flesh themselves out. While I am currently looking it does mean that I could use my current boss as a reference once she's gone and we have a very good relationship and while what might happen to our group is still very murky, it might open up her management job to me.

I'm the only front line tech in my department that gives a shit anymore.
No one else does their paperwork or documents their work.
I'm starting to look like the odd one out for doing it.

Also we're moving from a company that gives free lifetime support, to a company that requires a contract before we give advice.
The reason for this is that the suits are now calling tech support a cost center and saying we need to bring in money for the company.
We're the only reason people give our company repeat business; the people who write the manuals and design the interfaces are burned out too and their quality is shit, so without tech support to help them through initial setup, we wouldn't have a second sale from ANY customer.
And now it's our responsibility to 'make money for our own department' so they can 'hire more headcount'.
No shit... that's what they called us, to our faces.

I got nailed 200 dollars for an open container of alcohol last night.
Like wtf how is 200 dollars for that even a reasonable fine?

So I get to go to court to contest this on finals week.
