LOL, prepare to be surprised. Idk about up there, but there's low tolerance for drinking and driving here.

Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Live-Free-Or-Pie - 11-02-2014

A close female friend (calling her T) has a girlfriend (calling her N) who has some seriously dire medical shit going on and I'm scared and anxious because I don't know how I can be supportive to both of them.

N has some sort of degenerative disease that attacks the joints and is now moving to her brain stem. Saw her on Saturday and now she's getting migraines, seizures, and paralysis in a finger and a leg. According to T, who has been spending a lot of time with N, this is serious enough to put N in 24-hour care by mid-November and N herself may survive to see new year's day.

I'm likely going to see T & N in socially a few times within the next few weeks. My dilemma is... how can I be supportive to T and socialize with N without making either of them uncomfortable?

My mind is hung up on this mortality thing and I'm anxious that I'll step on a landmine and make T or N uncomfortable.

I've told T that I will lend her any kind of support she which she asks for.

N appears to be handling everything ok for now.

As an added bonus, those emotional wounds from my father's rapid decline are starting to open up again. yays.

Its a little cliche, but just be there for them. Don't butt in and be like "I'm in this with you whargarbl". But ask what small mundane things do they need help with. Yard work and cooking meals can go far while avoiding embarrassing faux pas.

Report it to your insurance, even if you don't have a police report or anything. I was able to get repairs done to my car after someone fucked up my hood (likely with a trailer hitch) by backing into me. It was also in the city when there was a metric fuck ton of snow so I didn't bother taking it in for like 3 months.

Re: Re: Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - FlyingMongoose - 11-13-2014

Monday wife comes home after vomiting at work, dizziness, headache, nausea, and numbness in arms.
That night she spent a couple hours vomiting.
Wednesday trip to ER at suggestion of general practitioner because these symptoms continued, they told her she was most likely hyperventilating (she's been really stressed at work lately so this makes sense to me) They had her a saline drop for dehydration and have her a scrip for anti-nausea.

She's feeling better goes to work and gets chewed out by her supervisor for not coming to work the day she went to ER (not cool). That was Tuesday.

On way her way home from work Wednesday she gets rear ended she's fine but her trunk area back end is pretty much gone... Everyone says not her fault (including police) so insurance should not go up.

So really... Not a good week for her... Tow truck operator took one look at the damage and pretty much said it'll probably be totaled he was a cool guy though.

Of course she's also married to me so... She's pretty well fucked for life... But she likes that part :-p

Actors sure seem to love to tell me that they're available until I ask them to do a role.
