Advice on a list of parts? - CorpseFactor - 11-22-2009

Spore told me that many people here would know a good list of parts for a gaming computer that would run Windows 7. Any advice is appreciated I am here to learn.

Re: OS decision and such - Spore - 11-22-2009

You want 7. First build is God awful for $2,000, second is better. All irrelevant though because putting a computer together these days is as easy as building with lego.

So still trying to find a person to put it together or googling it myself and doing it may be better than the second choice or just stick to the second?

There are aboot 300 people here who can put together a very good list of parts. You can find a short and simple video guide to putting together a modern computer, only to see a guy putting things with the same size connectors into corresponding slots.
Mkay so just edit the thread to ask about a good list of parts to make a good gaming computer. Thanks Spore!

I bet you a nickel that with your budget, you could get crossfire 5870 graphics cards and blow all other BRBU computers away for the next 6 months. Well, if you can find some of them in stock at least.

Re: Advice on a list of parts? - CaffeinePowered - 11-22-2009

Use the wishlist function on newegg to post builds that we can look over and give advice on

Re: Advice on a list of parts? - zaneyard - 11-22-2009

well i paid around 1500 for my build a few months ago

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=10268245

check the numbers on the side in case the memory or the hard drive seem too expensive

Re: Advice on a list of parts? - CorpseFactor - 11-22-2009

From what I heard it goes Vid card, Case, Power, then everything else right?

Processor is kinda sorta important too.
Heard AMD is cheaper but Intel is more stable but twice as expensive.

Re: Advice on a list of parts? - CaffeinePowered - 11-22-2009

General order I go in picking parts

Motherboard -> Processor -> Video Card -> PSU -> Memory -> All Else

The motherboard is the true centerpiece of your machine, its the bottleneck through which everything flows and what slots/chipset it has determine what is and is not compatible

Re: Advice on a list of parts? - CorpseFactor - 11-26-2009

Well, how about this, this was the original machine I was suggested to buy from Spore at first when I showed two.

Should I just buy that and add on to it? I ask because I don't know what works with what like if a certain video card would explode if I put it with a certain soundcard and such.

I didn't say you should buy it. I said it was better than the other build. You can do way better for that price. That i7 950 specifically is not worth the price compared to an i5 750 or i7 860 or 920.
