Mumble Server Info - UPDATE: I got a .com - Kirby - 07-12-2010

I guess I should prolly make a post about this about now....

If you don't have Mumble yet, download it here. - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO GO THRU THE SETTINGS AND SET YOUR CLIENT UP.

AND GOOD GOD DO NOT USE VOICE ACTIVATION, USE A PUSH-TO-TALK KEY

If you're asking "Why don't we just use vent?" - It's been long documented that the Ventrilo dev team doesn't care that an increasingly large portion of their userbase is not able to run the vent client because of some retarded issue with hardware and if OS >= Vista. (Which has currently stuck a few brbu'ers who actively play games that need external VoIP)

That and Ventrilo is a closed source project that charges large licensing fees to allow you to host a server, and they don't just let anyone host them. (Read: Kickbacks.)

Mumble however, is free all the way around, and kicks Ventrilo's ass up and down the block.

If you can read and follow directions, you'll have a fun, rich and rewarding experience in Kirby's Dreamland, if you can't, your name is Turtle, and I leave you with that.

Can I get a mod to spooge all over this thread and make it sticky for me?

Re: Mumble Server Info - Versus - 07-12-2010

Sad

Re: Mumble Server Info - Vandamguy - 07-12-2010

I like the overlay that mumble does  :o

cause when you're talking and saying 'I need help'
I dont know who the fuck I is.

Re: Mumble Server Info - Duck, Duck, Goose - 07-15-2010

Mumble seems like a terrible name.

Let's all mumble over the mic.

Re: Mumble Server Info - Kirby - 07-15-2010

btw I still have this habit of crashing the box occasionally, so if Mumble randomly dies, the box only takes about 15 seconds to pull a full reboot =x

Oh, the irony.

Performing a simple apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk on the server to install Java VM for Minecraft server support, the box hard locks and it will not reboot for me, support ticket is open atm.

-edit-

It's back up, apparently I had the crappy luck of running that update when someone else on the same host machine did something stupid and spooged all over it.

Re: Mumble Server Info - commish - 07-16-2010

Why not use TS3? It's much better than vent IMO anyways

From the Dreddit wiki: Mumble also has a built-in overlay that will show over the game. Once configured, it is easy to see who is talking without the need for everyone state their name in each communication.
Also, Mumble is open source. If worse comes to worse we can still maintain Mumble if the project does die for some reason.

Where are you enter a password, and what are you entering?

Re: Mumble Server Info - commish - 07-18-2010

The password prompt appears after clicking onto kirby's dreamland, didn't happen before, also I don't even remember having a password so I tried littlecart without results

Re: Mumble Server Info - zaneyard - 07-18-2010

that would be the password you registered with on that website

Re: Mumble Server Info - Kirby - 07-18-2010

He's not registered already though, that's what's weird.

Try going to %appdata%\Mumble and clearing out that folder's contents, the only thing I can think of if your client is thinking it's connecting somewhere else.

Re: Mumble Server Info - Vandamguy - 07-18-2010

there's 2 mumble servers .. the old one , and the new one .. when you try inputing your password on the old one it doesn't connect you.. which is the problem you're describing..
are you sure you're connecting to the new server ?
