COD: MW3 - Kirby - 08-17-2011

I don't/won't play it (MP anyway) but I made the topic I win.

Discuss?

Trailers look like CoD 3: World War 3 though? Why are we invading France now?! We're getting like sloppy 4ths?

Re: COD: MW3 - Maxon - 08-17-2011

I thought it was fighting off an invasion of America by the Russians? Anyways, I'll probably get this someday.  No real draw for it right at launch as it mostly just seems like more of MW2, which wasn't anything super amazing.  I am glad they are bringing back dedicated servers for MW3 and at least Treyarch isn't making it, so hopefully the PC port won't be sloppy like it was with Black Ops, which was unplayable for like two weeks for me :\

Re: COD: MW3 - Versus - 08-18-2011

BIG FUCKING GREEN 3

Re: COD: MW3 - Goffin - 08-18-2011

I think COD is finally going to feel the sting of BF3.   Just a guess.

Re: COD: MW3 - Dtrain323i - 08-18-2011

I'll buy it used to finish the single player story but I'm not interested in multiplayer.

Re: COD: MW3 - Versus - 08-18-2011

i hope bf3 is good/popular too, but i doubt it'll put that much of a dent into mw3 :-\

EA has already sunk BF3 on the PC end by forcing origins

Re: COD: MW3 - Eightball - 08-18-2011

Kind of not interested. I swore blops would be my last COD, and the footage I've seen didn't do much to affect that inclination.

Re: COD: MW3 - Maxon - 08-18-2011

I don't think the Origins stuff will hurt the PC market as bad as people say it will and Valve has said they want to bring EA back to Steam, so BF3 isn't guaranteed to be Origins only forever.  Perhaps a cut in their PC profits, will show EA that they need to be both on Steam and Origins and can work something out with Valve.

well,  maybe you can let cod people know that 1998 called and they want their 12 vs's 12 playstyle back.   ;D.    your a fan boi of MW and I don't expect you to turn to the dark side.   Smile    For me,  this will be just filler until PS2 comes into the spot light.

Re: COD: MW3 - [fr31ns]Karrde - 08-18-2011

Ugh, these guys need to stop hating on steam.  They're not even really trying to compete with it.  Everyone seems to think having a program that lets you shop online is exactly like steam in every way.

Which is why I'm basicly waiting for BF3 to go on steam before I buy it. It's practically inevitable and how it stands right now, I'd rather wait a bit so I can have this tied to my steam account to make it easier to keep tabs on stuff.

Re: COD: MW3 - Squishy3 - 08-19-2011

i don't see how people are calling origin origins, just like i didn't understand why everybody and their mother called the gameboy advance the gameboy advanced

Competition is good, it can lower prices.....but the thing is, competition already exists within steam as publishers compete against each other on price.

What does origins offer that steam does not, aside from EA taking their ball and going home?

Its actually more restrictive, they can revoke your games for any reason at any time for example. And if the service ever gets discontinued your SOL.

Steam has this nice clause in its license that if the service ever goes belly-up, you get DRM free copies of everything you bought. Steam wanted to centralize everything as far as DLC goes, and EA didn't want that. The amount of hoops you needed to jump through to get DLC on something like Dragonage or Bioshock was absolutely ridiculous :-\
