Whatever Wednesdays (Official Game List and Voting Process Thread) - FlyingMongoose - 01-01-2013

Post your requests for games you want to see in Whatever Wednesdays here. Do not repeat existing requests.

It doesn't always have to be a source mod, or a source engine game. It can be any multiplayer game, except that commonly played by the community (no PS2 or TF2).

It is officially "Whatever Wednesday" now. That means almost any game that is not Planetside 2, or Team Fotress 2 qualifies. It is advised to be inexpensive, free, or already commonly owned if possible. In most cases I will have to set up a server, but MMO style games are allowed. PC multiplayer games only.

Note that the idea behind this is primarily that of camaraderie, even if I don't get servers running, or the servers don't work properly, you can still pub it up, the idea is to play a game, other than what is commonly frequented by the community, ANY GAME IS ALLOWED AS LONG AS IT IS NOT PS2 OR TF2.

Each week I will use !d (diceroll) in #brbuninstalling on GameSurge (our IRC Channel) and pick 5 games from the total list.
There will be a new thread with a new poll that allows 1 item vote, but a change of votes is allowed.
The poll will be posted on Tuesday, and closed on the following Tuesday.
Whatever wins will be stroked out and will not be eligible in the following week's vote, however the other games that lost that week will be added back into the possible options of the diceroll.

Once we reach 5 games I will run a dice roll to determine the order of the last 5 weeks of Whatever Wednesday. At which point all items with a strike through them will be restored, and the cycle will restart.

This enforces that all games on the list MUST be played before a game that has already been played comes up on the list again.

Some people complain this may mean, for some people "learning a new game every week". The thing is, that's a good thing. Even if no one knows how to play, you're all in the same boat, and I like to think we're in a friendly enough community that those who DO know how to play are willing to share their knowledge.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - Ianki - 01-01-2013

Can planetside be considered a battlefield mod?

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

No... basically any game that is not commonly played on a regular basis is considered for this. If you're talking planetside 1 then maybe. But No planetside 2, or TF2.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - Elder - 01-02-2013

i suggest we start building a list of games again that are sourcemod and other free games for the mondays. I know that the Hidden was well received.

Other favorites of mine are synergy, no more room in hell, and pirates, vikings, and knights II.
as for non-source engine games, as mentioned battlefield 1942, and mods on GTA IV, Company of Heros are good too.

I fully support regular rounds of CoH

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - Eightball - 01-02-2013

I'm always down for GMOD night. Especially since the steam workshop made installing addons a breeze.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

You also have to remember that if it is a mod, it must STILL WORKS TO THIS DAY. (Example, Hidden: Source is actually about 4 years old... but still works.)

Sourceforts was released in 2006, and it no longer works so no longer is an option.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - [fr31ns]Karrde - 01-02-2013

I can rattle off a massive list of quality GoldSrc/HL mods.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

I'm willing to run GoldSrc (I would love to play SvenCoop with you guys)

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - Dtrain323i - 01-02-2013

Oh shit, I know what we should play.....

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - Evil Cheese - 01-02-2013

While not being mods or free, I nominate Chivalry or Mount and Blade: Warband/Napoleonic Wars. While they're all fun, I think War of the Roses requires too much grinding for a one night game.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - [fr31ns]Karrde - 01-02-2013

Lets see what I can think of off the top of my head.  Everything *should* work, though we may need newer/older fmod/fmodex libraries (easily obtained).

Firearms
Ricochet
Sven Coop
Action Half-Life
The Specialists
Science and Industry
Frontline Force
Team Fortress Classic
Rocket Crowbar - if we can find the steam version, lost it ages ago. - This is bar-none one of the silliest DM mods I've ever played.  You're just as likely to kill yourself doing dumb things as killing everyone else.

Re: Mod Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

First post edited with list. They don't have to be free, they can be just cheap games too (The Ship).

As long as I can get a server set up for it!

Re: Mod (Mature) Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

A few games added to the list.
Bloody Good Time
Suicide Survival
Elevator: Source
Minecraft

Re: Mod (Mature) Mondays are Back! ...again - FlyingMongoose - 01-02-2013

If no one else has anymore games to input. I will start up a poll thread for the first "Mature Mondays" server.

As before, any game that has already been played will be crossed off the list. Once all games have been played, we will start over. Any additional game is welcome to be added at any point during the cycle of games.

Who is up for LoL night again?

rocket crowbar is still out there, along with the HL2 version if it still works or no thats anyone's guess

also a suggestion the Serious Sam series (First encounter, second encounter, and 3, BFE)

Re: Mod (Mature) Mondays are Back! ...again (Official Game List) - FlyingMongoose - 01-03-2013

Serious Sam added. (Will be on next week's vote)

Re: Mod (Mature) Mondays are Back! ...again (Official Game List) - StolenToast - 01-03-2013

I like this plan!  We could even do a random selection for each Monday.
