New Processor and MOBO - Elder - 05-15-2016

Its been a while since i've done anything to my pc besides upgrades to my GPU, power supply, and adding hard drives. Its time to get a new processor and MOBO. Thing is i have payed little to no attention to what may be good for a processor. All i know is i want intel because amd has burned me one too many times for me to ever want to go back to them.

I see the Skylake architecture processors are supposed to be pretty good the i7-6700k in particular, and also the i5-6600k, with those i would have to get a mobo with the Z170 chipset. Asrock has done well for me so far and as far as i know gigabyte is a solid choice as well. Again need to do more research to see whats available to me.

My biggest fear currently though is how well they will work on windows 7, i know that they will be supprted but that doesnt mean its gonna work well. If its the worst case senario i can bite the bullet and upgrade, but still i want to hold out if i can.

get the i5 for sure, the i7 is a waste. personally I would say asus for the mobo, z170 as you suggest. you'll need all new ram too. as for win7 you should probably jump to win10 while they are still giving it as a free upgrade. I use it on all my machines, it's been fine for a while.

eh getting new ram is no big deal considering its pretty cheap. Obe was saying the same thing about the upgrade to 10 so it should be fine.

I will contest that I've gotten nothing but problems and game issues with Windows 10 on my laptop, I hate it.
