Movie/Book/Whatever References - Surf314 - 11-20-2008

So in case you haven't heard, each "movie" is packed with references to cult classics and great works of horror.  So post them as you find them.

Re: Movie/Book/Whatever References - Dave - 11-20-2008

the house in the death toll capaign is pretty much identical to the 1964 night of the living dead

hawt.

Re: Movie/Book/Whatever References - |GW|Chimp - 11-20-2008

Well, there's the obvious "Louis is dressed like Shaun from Shaun of the Dead" and the fact that the fast zombies evoke "28 Days Later."

At some point I want to go through and read all of the writing on the walls, I'm sure there's tons buried in there.

I'm pretty sure there is some "I Am Legend" references including "Man is the real monster."  But its obviously from the book not the movie that could have been great but sucked because it decided to throw the book away in the second half.

The Dunwich Building in Fallout 3 is one massive reference to H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror."

Don't pretend you read, Dave. But yes, the book is a good'un. Film was wank though, either ending. Also, I love Will Smith but all I could think of was the guy in the book being described essentially as Aryan and at on point shouting "YOU BLACK BASTARDS!" at the zombies.

I just detest how far from the book it was. They really pussed out on making what really could have been a badass movie.

In the basement of the house near the end of part 4 (I think) of Blood Harvest, there's a lawnmower with blood and gibs everywhere next to it.

I haven't gone through that one yet. Maybe I should?

Re: Movie/Book/Whatever References - KarthXLR - 11-20-2008

OK: probably doesn't count, but Dr. Breen is on the front page of the newspaper sitting on the kitchen table in the No Mercy campaign.

i read if theres zombies.

well

vampries in the book

also the dog got a much bigger role in the film

for no reason

fuck that dog, i want the real dog
get some propper dog acting goin down.

Re: Movie/Book/Whatever References - Surf314 - 11-20-2008

The dog was necessary because narrating is usually pretty lame so they needed him to be alone and still talk to himself constantly without looking completely insane.  At least in the beginning.

The dog part of the book and the ending were miles darker thematically than anything in the film. I love Will Smith but the director's a cock, IIRC it was the same guy who did Constantine.

Constantine comics were substantially more badass.  So is this the director you get to pussify fiction for the big screen?

Re: Movie/Book/Whatever References - Versus - 11-20-2008

surf, it was "WE ARE THE REAL MONSTERS" graffiti.

also, there was some graffiti saying that whatever caused the infection was created by the government, they have the cure, and they are only giving it to the rich. deus ex?
