Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - backfire - 12-25-2010

Has hit detection gotten worse for anyone this past week? I counted at least 3 perfect condition, both of us standing still, point blank scattergun directly into the torso (as in, not exaggerating one bit) and doing absolutely no damage.

yes

mainly because you're playing on blue which iirc has logmod on it

but red has been bad too, hit bonesinger in the faec for 50 dmg, with clear bloodstain and everything last night

Umm, think of it like gems you can attach to weapons to change their traits.

Ya know, since TF2 is an RPGFPS.

probably gonna go through beta first and be terrible

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - [SiN] Merc - 12-26-2010

In theory, it'd be cool, as I'm a customization whore, and would love a harder hitting revolver, a faster cooling targe, or the like. In practice, it'll somehow break heavies and soliders more.

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - KarthXLR - 12-26-2010

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 12-26-2010

if I could do more damage or have a faster run speed, I wouldn't touch flame retardancy with a 10 foot pole.

:'(

I got sick of all the crap they've added. I kind of just want a vanilla game now even though it means giving up jarate. Most of the things Valve has been adding have completely ruined the feel of the game for me.

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Maxon - 12-27-2010

I was fine with everything up till the addition of the store myself.

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 12-27-2010

i dont like the drop system, but the store? rly? you pay for cosmetic items and convenience, how is that bad?

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - KarthXLR - 12-27-2010

Everything after the heavy update has been downhill for me. Kind of why I was looking forward to the beta, but now lots of people have the new unlocks. Shame too, the vanilla-style gameplay felt reallly balanced to me.

which unlocks are horribly balanced

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Chief - 12-27-2010

list of things to do for valve
1. balance tf2
2. optimize tf2
3. make episode 3

But since they now have an ingame cash store, its actually going to be:

1. make more hats
2. make super rare hats that you have to buy raffle tickets to get a chance to find
3. make store-exclusive hats

Shortstop, Degreaser, and Bushwaka are my picks.

All things considered though, I love the new game additions, it keeps it fresh. I don't want this game turnin into Counter Strike, where every goddamn match is the same.

First two definitely by far need a nerf

I'm more worried about what Atom mentioned, that now they'll have more pressure to put out more content faster. I was quite fine with the class packs, which was a pack every 2 - 4 months, now it seems like every 2 - 4 weeks they drop a new patch with a boat load of new stuff. There's absolutely no way you can properly test that for balance.
