Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Surf314 - 12-27-2010

If they aren't collecting data for TF3 then they are retarded. I honestly think we are all beta testers for some of their crazy ideas concerning micro-transactions, adding more social depth to gameplay, and customization. The fact that people are paying for it is just funding their research.

I was quite fine with the class packs, which was a pack every 2 - 4 months, now it seems like every 2 - 4 weeks they drop a new patch with a boat load of new stuff. There's absolutely no way you can properly test that for balance.
Newsflash: in my hat scenario, #2 & #3 have already happened/are happening. WTF do you think Crates are?

Everything after the heavy update has been downhill for me. Kind of why I was looking forward to the beta, but now lots of people have the new unlocks. Shame too, the vanilla-style gameplay felt reallly balanced to me.

which unlocks are horribly balanced

Shortstop, Degreaser, and Bushwaka are my picks.

C'mon. And the Dead Ringer.

I'm about 90% sure there's Pure servers out there. They got to be running a game mod to make that happen.

I think people are too quick to forget that the game was always about flavour and not taking itself seriously. Sort of like me.  8)

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 12-27-2010

yeah idk, its not like they have added gem sockets yet, its just new weps dudes. most people use a vanilla loadout because 9 times out of 10 it's objectively better than unlocks

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - KarthXLR - 12-27-2010

I'm just sick of the new weapons in general, the new spy weps, the swords, buff banners, scout stuff, etc. It feels really cluttered.

Then just use the old weps.

Besides the shortstop, everything's perfectly balanced. The only non-standard stuff besides the luger I use are the other melees, so imma talk about that. The sandman is perfect for giving yourself a second or two to attack when you're unable to flank at the cost of 15 hp (which is the difference between surviving a point blank rocket or not), the basher is the perfect "high risk/high reward" weapon, and the candy cane is perfect in maps where medkits are tight at the cost of getting gibbed by explosions easier.

Subject: Scoot Melee Balance

Verdict: Perfect!

As for the other crap, meh.

I love soldiers who have banners, it means they don't carry shotguns

Agreed.

The same could be said for the Ullapool Caber. High risk/High reward.

Degreaser is op.  Give it the old airblast system, slower cycle, more ammo, and it would be fine, I think.

Indeed, the old airblast system that ate through ammo would make it a nice sidegrade. Or perhaps reducing the afterburn even more, so it promotes the puff and sting method.
