Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Moosendoo - 06-27-2010

Doesn't Valve (not the person who makes the models) decide what the stats will be?

That's killer, but I'm not seeing a negative side of it.  Is it just a Super Sentry basically?

the guy says

"More health(due his shield)
Less damage
Ruin the accuracy of players hitted."

[/quote]

So it basically has very littly negative about it?  It hardly looked like the damage loss was very minimal.  Sure it was against Scouts, but he was annhilating them pretty quick and it seemed to have a faster turning radius.

it was just a reskin of the normal sentry, those are the stats the creator is proposing

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Geoff - 06-28-2010

nvm, i think the stats change for each level.

but the general idea is less rotation speed and more hp.

[TF2] Polypack: LucyCharm (New Sentry)

those are proposed stats, but im almost positive the creators cannot choose stats

the equalizer came out exactly as the creator intended, stats and all... it's possible, just not very likely

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Odin - 06-28-2010

Equalizer was valve made what are you talking about.

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - copulatingduck - 06-28-2010

no it wasn't, they even admit snarfing the idea straight from the steampowered forums. the guy that came up with the idea is supposed to get (or may already have, idk) a community version of it

Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 06-28-2010

yeah, but he came up with the stats and valve provided the model, so there you go.

Quote:Word from Blizz folks is that they're having major account issues at the moment (thousands of accounts have been stolen, they're not sure how yet).
They've shutdown the billing/support lines and are telling users to call back later. Some of the largest guilds have reported approx. 75% of their accounts inaccessible today, and unauthorized Blizzard Authenticators have been thrown onto their accounts. Multiple accounts are being logged into by a group of perpetrators, and items sold/accounts deleted/etc.
Blizzard has been working to remedy the situation, but they haven't made any official announcements about it yet.
Any of you guys impacted?

See, for those of you who don't know, patch 3.3.5 was just released these past couple weeks. This patch introduced Ruby Sanctum, a new raid dungeon with only one boss, that drops the same quality gear as The Lich King. This is the first raid dungeon that has been released since Icecrown Citadel in patch 3.3.0 in December. It is also the last raid dungeon being released in the current expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. No more raid dungeons will be release until the next expansion, Cataclysm, is released, which may be as far off as 2011.
Leading up to this patch, Blizzard made a big deal about how even though the patch would be added to all US servers on the 22nd, the dungeon would not actually be available until a later date. Specifically, after the other countries received the patch a week later. The point of this was so that all servers had initial access to the dungeon at the same time, so all top guilds had an even shot at world first kills.
Come Monday, the 28th, Blizzard posts an announcement stating that certain realms would be down for 24 hour maintenance on Tuesday. Come Tuesday, the realms listed indeed go down, as well as about half of the European servers that got unexpected 12 hour maintenance. During the server downtime, Blizzard inexplicably and unexpectedly opens up the Ruby Sanctum to players on the realms that are available. World first kills are soon achieved while hundreds upset subscribers cry foul, and ask Blizzard what the hell they were thinking.
Blizzard has no response. They know this was stupid. They know they fucked up. They know there is no right way to say "Oopsy poops, we fucked up. Give us back your loot and we are taking away your kills." So instead, they come up with a different solution. They disable millions of accounts, and feign a large attack on the community. In response to the massive attack, they reset the servers back to the last backup time, which was Tuesday, at the beginning of maintenance. This effectively takes away everyone's loot, everyone's kill achievements, and sets the dungeon to closed once again, allowing them to open it once again during a time when none of the servers are down.
Quite brilliant, really.
