Where do you play? - Vongore - 03-18-2009

TBH i'm tempted to try WoW. I could play a little while i'm at college and i'm waiting for the next class to start and nobody is playing TF2. Also it would be nice when i'm tired as fuck and i only have like 30 min to play (only one round of Dustbowl/Goldrush and half of a L4D Campaign? no thanks)

:3

There are ways to play on other region's servers but besides downloading the european client, I don't know how. We do have one canadian member though.

a French Canadian?

I remember a friend bought the game in french, and could only access Euro servers.

Re: Where do you play? - Vlambo - 03-19-2009

To play on Euro servers, you need to dl the euro client, and subscribe to a euro acccount.

Re: Where do you play? - Eschatos - 03-19-2009

Question: Can I just download a trial client, and then buy a time card for WoW, and will it work?

Yes.
No.  You have to actually have to buy account codes for the game first (Classic, then later Burning Crusade and Wrath if you decide to go that far.)
The trial client will still work when you're done with your trial, but you can't just slap time cards onto the trial account, you have to buy the account keys first.
Well, it doesn't really matter in the long run.  At some point you will have to put down money for the actual game.  Unless all you want to do is dick around on private servers, at which point you may as well download the client from blizzard.  At least then you don't have to worry about any viruses or shit getting into it.

Re: Where do you play? - Versus - 03-19-2009

sigh...downloading the trial now...

edit: yes, it is a euro account.

Re: Where do you play? - Eschatos - 03-20-2009

I just don't want to have to spend $70 for the game, burning crusade, and a 60 day time card.  If my torrents work then the price goes down to $30.

sadly thats not true at all. WoW looks at your account to see what you can play so just having the game actually gets you nothing. Blizzard doesn't let a single cent escape them.
