I'm just talking about them being modern combat styled games where you pick someone off halfway across a map with a burst from a machine gun.  Those are the most abysmally boring games in the world to me.  Damage falloff over range is the best thing ever (unless you're dealing with demomen, because they don't fucking have it and get to lay down a rolling carpet of full damage death >=/).

From the footage I’ve seen, I lot of the rifle fire is similar to MW2 with no damage drop off. A bullet from a gun at 2 feet or 200 feet is still going to cause damage, as it does in real life. If that’s not your thing I understand. I do think this could be a great addition to our server lineup depending on a few variables. Maybe we can have an Armored Princess night to make up for it Big Grin

Well are the guns as super accurate as they are in MW2, or is there lots of spread to make long range assault rifling useless?

The beta hasn't started yet, and I don't own a PS3. I will tell you in a few days...

Also, Beta experience always changes compared to the live verison of a game. I have done several Beta tests, and the product can change quite a bit.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Maxon - 01-25-2010

The game doesn't play quite like MW2 if I remember right from the original since I don't expect it to be completely different.  Takes a few more rounds to kill people.  Not quite as fast paced as MW2.  As far as accuracy...Not sure.  I'm pretty sure there isn't damage dropoff, but I could be wrong.  We'll see soon enough Big Grin

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Goffin - 01-29-2010

I downloaded the beta last night off of fileplanet and it's buggy as sh*t.  more specifically,  lag.    Still a fan regardless and i'm enjoying it.    The friend system doesn't work so don't bother trying it out.  Also,  don't try to find servers via the server list or you'll CTD.  choose quick match ftw.  Again, this is a true beta in regards to bugs.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - KorJax - 01-29-2010

Not a fan of how (so far) the only map appears to be one big ass choke point that is easy as piss to snipe from if you are on defense.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - BS1 - 01-30-2010

The game is alright. It could look a little better, but that may be because it's the beta.

Woot, was bummed that my 360 ran out of it's subscription before the multiplayer demo came out and that I missed the PS3 beta due to it being before I got my PS3.  And then I'm buying it for the PC...Love it.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Tricks - 02-03-2010

It’s a great game, from what I have seen so far. Ironically, I bought this game expecting “MW2 now with dedi servers”. It honestly plays more like a modern-day version of Planetside.

You have two opposing forces with different a goal. Most maps released so far are of the “attack/defend” persuasion. Team A is trying to blow up an objective and Team B is trying to defend it. When you join, you are assigned into a Squad. In the squad you have four players who have different gear “pre-sets”. It is set up like a game of rock/paper/scissors with a little bit of flex. Assault/engie/Medic/Sniper. Snipers are deadly at long range, but a little more handicapped at close range. Assault is…assault. Medic’s can drop “health kit” onto the ground that you can stand around and get regen. They also have paddles to bring back a player after he has been downed. Engies have powerful anti-vehicle weapons, but also the ability to repair vehicles.

In Planetside, certain vehicles are incredibly effective against other vehicles, however really difficult to use on players. The same rules apply in BC2. The tanks can get a powerful hits on players, but it is easy to dodge and very hard to aim.

Vehicle reswpans, at least in the games I played, grow in length depending on how powerful the vehicle is. The quick moving, no-armor ATVs respawn very quickly. APC respawn more slowly and have no weapons, but some armor. Tanks respawn ever more slowly, and Helicopters respawn around twice a match. Helicopters can clearly rain down death and destruction, particularly on tanks, but with such a long spawn you have to be careful when you use it.

As far as gameplay goes, that’s an intro. If you are looking for MW2 part deux, you should probably look elsewhere. There is damage falloff, and the assault rifles are pretty inaccurate at long range. Squad tactics are really fun, and you get big point bonuses for working as group.

All that said: this is a Beta still. There are glitches, lag, awful players (like me), and limited options for gameplay.

It looks encouraging though. Graphics may be a touch underwhelming, but for gamers with less than an amazing computer that may be good news.

You can equip the sniper with shotguns for CQB. A major problem I've seen is people attaching C4 to the drone, flying it in and detonating on the com stations for a quick win. They really should have kept the com rose from BF2, how am I supposed to trick my team into thinking there is an enemy boat in the middle of the battlefield now?

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Eschatos - 02-03-2010

On a scale of 1 to awesome, what would you give it?  How many maps are there?  How's the lag?  Does suiciding with C4d jeeps still happen a lot?  Are there giant mechs like in 2142? Why the fuck not?

Not sure what I would give it just yet, it is still beta. Right now only one map. Lag is kind of bad right now, but they are (allegedly) working on it.I haven't seen anyone suicide c4 in a jeep yet. I don't think there are going to be any mechs. Also, there is too much smoke/snow/dust blowing around all the time.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Surf314 - 02-03-2010

Whats the player cap?

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - KorJax - 02-03-2010

I think 32 offically but I've seen a couple with higher.

It's fun, I'll give it that. C4 is waaaaaaayyy over used and over powered.  You can just slap crazy amounts of C4 on everything as a recon making Recon the best class in the game.  He's got a ghillie suite, is best at long range with sniper (which is good at close range too if you're skilled enough), can take out vehicles easily with C4, can take out all objectives easily with C4, etc.

It's just retarded.  And I'm the guy who ususally LOVES being support roles/snipers/spies/etc in games!

Ironically enough I'm having a lot of fun playing medic (and have gotten pretty decent using their LMG's).  They are a very useful class to have around and really promote teamwork if you are in a good squad that isn't all snipers.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Greatbacon - 02-03-2010

Too lazy to look through the thread, but apparently fileplanet is giving away PC beta keys.

http://www.fileplanet.com/betas/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc-key.aspx

The servers seem a little swamped, but it might be worth it if you want to try.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Versus - 02-03-2010

Durp. I'm attempting to get a key now.

Re: BF: Bad company 2? - Surf314 - 02-03-2010

Pre-ordering supposedly gets you into the beta. I have a bunch of trade in money that I could've gotten a Gamestop pre-order but Steam has spoiled me too much. Also I need to finish Batman then play ME2.

Don't you have to buy games to get into betas?
