Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - Versus - 09-27-2010

keep the fire going long enough for the next oblique map

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - Stein - 09-27-2010

Damn...

Also, we need a list of waypoints that people want accesses (as well as city waypoints).

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - rilnac - 09-27-2010

Yeah I am also stuck out of game right now, stupid central login system....

Anyhoo, first thing: I am not mad, I am disappoint.

The good news

-the last oblique that went up contains all my works from last night, so there is at least some record of what once was. (I'll post a wild / planted / burned comparison later).
-all you can eat free wood
-If you want to get to the island here is the rune:
-once there you will find a supply of axes on the beach and you can use the other runes to hit the far ends of the forest
Rune map of the island: (sorry the jpeg compression really raped the markers)

The bad news:
-there is a lot of cleanup, and I mean tons.
-You will probably crash from the fire.
-there is also water sources and exploded beaches that need repairing thx to over zealous fire crew
-this is currently causing lag as far as cielo

I was exploring the teleports near central/spawn and crashed, and now I can't get back on.

minecraft.net is down

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - BS1 - 09-27-2010

So Runecraft is on the server right now? I will have to figure out how to make teleports then!

Yes, runecraft is on the server. If you have issues, I am sure someone will be available to help you get started.
============================
Assuming we keep the rune mod, I think we should keep the server as is.

Here is why:
The runes allow us virtually instant travel to anywhere (as far as I can tell). When biomes come out, we may be required to travel 10+ minutes to find a new biome. So what? We can have a hand full of volunteers venture off and make waypoints for new city locations. If we start 2 or 3 new cities off in new biomes and have waypoints/teleporters in each of the cities, there is no limit to how far we can expand without risk of being severely inconvenienced. This will mean that there is more room for new mines in multiple areas, plenty of new buildings, and hopefully less overpopulation in a single area. After biomes are released, we could have the new city sites started within an hour or two, assuming we have volunteers.

The people who dont want to lose items/homes in central and cielo could keep them. It is only a teleport away from anywhere. If you want to expand without having to travel an hour back to make a trade with a friend can do so quickly. The new players will have plenty of space without having to learn the subtleties of the server (turning down fog in central, learning what is where, etc). I would just make sure to have some building that has each city's waypoint combination.

I dont know what all this will do in terms of server load. Will branching off that far take a heavy toll on the server (other than the initial expansion)?

Yup.  Its easy once you build two for practice.

I'm calling north water, eastsouthwest glass for the city of Rapture.

The server only calculates stuff going on in populated sections.

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - Dr. Zaius - 09-27-2010

I'm going to second what nite8 said. Keep the server. Keep runecraft.

And as for the fire, holy damn, who the fuck did that? I'll run around and help plant trees if you're looking for volunteers.

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - Chief - 09-27-2010

why the fuck is runecraft on the server
just make a new map god damnit, if you're really that pissed we can at least edit the inventory to give you whatever or something

the whole idea is stupid, and a waste of space
eventually we're just going to overload the server and you'll be asking "OH NO WHY IS IT DOWN" because you're all stubborn that's why. jesus

also start playing other fucking games, people who only play minecraft. you come on here as if you can officially decide what the server will do. guess what, too bad its me TDC telling you to grow up
ending rant here because i could probably be more derogatory

Re: The Official Minecraft BRB,u Survival Multiplayer Omni-Thread - beep beep diglett - 09-27-2010

losing everything =/= losing diamonds, it's losing hours of work

also you never play so you dont have a say in anything. s my d chief.

fuck why do i always start the new page

also runecraft owns just because 50% of our players dont want to read a fairly short thread doesnt mean it sucks

It only uses a set amount of resources per player. The map could be several times bigger than what it is now, and the only thing that would have changed would be the map file size would just be that much bigger. It wouldn't lag more or anything.

Reading the past few pages I'm glad I didn't jump into this game yet.

Sounds tortious to me.

I don't understand why there's drama in here.  :-\

It's actually quite fun, Surf, but I would stick to single player for now.  MP still has a host of issues, and clearly our server is also home to some drama Wink

I meant Tort-ious, ironically we were just going over these fire hypos in Torts.
