Server down post 5-1 update, fixing in progress - Kirby - 05-01-2013

Public Service Announcement:

Today's update changed pretty much everything about how everything works in the engine and it's associated support files, and somehow the upgrade process has killed red.

I'm currently working with NFO to try and resolve the situation, but not having the server gives us any logs or crash dumps is hampering progress.

Hopefully the server should be back online soon.

They also fumbled the billing this month :|

Edit: But...I managed to 'upgrade' the package, meaning it now costs $35 a month instead of $50

Yeah ok, so now that I have a new modem, the server is back up and the problem was all the custom content on the server. I.E. the 10GB of maps you have on there. It'll start just fine if I rename the custom maps directory.

Finding out where the problem lies is going to be a bitch.

And that means I'll have to download the entire server from NFO, replicate it locally so I have console access and can see what's going on, and find out why it's hanging up.

Have fun playing stocks for a bit.

-edit-

ok I can make a new custom directory and put a map or two in there and it will still start, so it's either hiccuping on the massive amount of maps, which I know it's not because I'm friendly with a few of the tf2 server admins who run 30+ servers, and they're all having no problems with 15+GB of custom content, or it's hiccuping on a specific map.

So now I get to start/stop/restart a server possibly up to 304 times to find a bad egg.

If it's whalerace I'm just deleting everything on the server and going on vacation, btw.

Odd that it would hiccup on a specific map, it doesnt dump anything to a log file with what it hiccups on?

Or copy maps in batches of 10-20 until it fails, then back pedal by five maps until it works; isolate the issue.

Sounds like a perfect FNF idea

What the fuck do you think this is, do it the easy way land?

-edit-

Guess what, it's fixed.

It was an issue with folder names inside the custom folder, herpaderp.
