IRC? - CaffeinePowered - 04-28-2008

Now that we actually have a domain name I was considering setting up an IRC channel on gamesurge. However, if I go through the trouble of setting up an IRC channel I don't want it to sit unused. So if people in general are going to use it and idle there I'll set it up.

I say gamesurge too because they have a better set-up for commands and such than dynastynet (bleh)

Just trying to gauge interest.

Instructions on how to connect

(1) Connecting using Firefox

You can try installing the Chatzilla plugin for firefox and then send your browser to:

irc://irc.gamesurge.net/#brbuninstalling

(2) Connecting using a web portal thingamajigger

You  can try http://www.mibbit.com

Go there, click Server, and for the Server Address type in

irc.gamesurge.net

Give yourself a nick, set the channel to #brbuninstalling and then try connecting.

(3) Quick Link for lazy mibbiters

http://mibbit.com/chat/?channel=%23brbuninstalling&server=webirc.gamesurge.net:6007

Hope that helps. :^)

Re: IRC? - exanimo - 04-28-2008

I'm usually always on IRC, but since I've gotten to school, I haven't been able to connect. I'm moving into a new apartment next semester, so expect me to be there.

Re: IRC? - Neonie - 04-28-2008

I'd give it a shot, especially once I can't be on the server anymore.

Re: IRC? - Tragic Hero - 04-28-2008

Meh, maybe in the future but I am rarely on IRC.

Re: IRC? - ainmosni - 04-28-2008

My answer should be obvious: off course, I've been an IRC proponent forever.

Re: IRC? - Surf314 - 04-28-2008

I'd do IRC, is there a web based portal like dynasty net?  Otherwise I'd need the name of a good client.

www.mirc.com

Web and java based stuff is fail, real clients are much more stable and can run in the background with much less memory. Ain or I could easily help people set stuff up.

Re: IRC? - WTF Joel - 04-28-2008

Im going to be honest Ive never used IRC before, but hell I'd give it a shot

Re: IRC? - ToiletDuck - 04-28-2008

launching IRC then going to WIRC (see what i did there? "irk" and "work") has been a part of my daily routine for a while now, so i'll be there everyday!

Re: IRC? - cbre88x - 04-28-2008

I've actually never used IRC before.

Maybe I should try it?

Re: IRC? - Surf314 - 04-28-2008

Wierd, mirc is the one I used to use.  It's giving me a serious case of the deja-vu's.

Am I going to be made an admin?  Cuz then it would be like HS all over again.  All we'd need is to set up ftp's and exchange files over that crappy system they got.  I also got banned a couple of times for using wingates.  I think that's what they were called at least.

I'm not going to be gay and do the whole bot and ASCII art crap again.  At least I hope not  :-\

Re: IRC? - copulatingduck - 04-28-2008

I'd do IRC definitely. As it is I'm constantly refreshing the forums throughout the better part of the day, or sitting around in Vent wishing there were people to talk to (I can tell you Phototron1cs is usually there but afk, and there's almost always 1 other person on Vent: playing Titan Quest), or wishing more people used steam messaging (Joel and Spore are the two that I talk to most, but that might just be because no one else likes me Sad, I can be a spambot at times)

We all like you duck, but it's true I'm on here refreshing all day.  But when I'm at work I need something ignorable so IRC would be perfect.  Plus my work is a lot of busy stuff and then waiting for something and then more busy stuff.  So I'd love something to keep me occupied while I'm waiting.

I always pronounce IRC as 'eye-arr-cee' or when I speak dutch 'ee-ehr-say' so no I did not. Wink

Re: IRC? - Negate - 04-28-2008

I'd idle there Chatzilla forever.

Seems like people generally like this so Im registering the channel

Re: IRC? - Tragic Hero - 04-28-2008

What usually gets done in IRC anyways?  Is it just a chat or is there more to it?

I remember back in the day when I would download manga kids would run quiz games on current popular manga and it would tally points.  Unfortunately the questions got really stale so it was whoever could type in the answer to the question everyone knew the fastest.
