Night at the Hip Hopera

I haven't heard Gay Bar and Play The Game get mixed so perfectly.

One's perception of "the best" might depend on how much you like the source material. As the wiki says,

Yoshmi is the instrumentality of the Flaming Lips album with hip-hop lyrics overlaid. I'm not a big Lips fan, so this is not my favourite (but still great). Sample Track Are You A Visionary? is a great track using the Public Enemy vocals from "By the Time I get to Arizona", I actually like that better than the original.

A Night At The Hip-Hopera is takes Queen samples and mashes them up with rap/hip-hop. I love Queen riffs, so this is swell. Sample Track Bite. ODB lyrics with the bass from Another One Bites the Dust? Hell Yes!

From Detroit to JA is more eclectic, branching out from predominately using hip-hop lyrics, and using various rock or pop instrumentals. Sample Track Dancing Papa. David Bowie's Let's Dance with Papa Was a Rolling Stone. Also don't miss "I want an affiar" with Mary J vocals.

24 hours is considered his most ambitious project to date, a double-cd length project that attempts to tell a story and blends the songs together with movie clips (kinda-sorta Pink Floyd concept album style). Sample Track Cashbah Ain't Easy. David Bowie singing It Ain't Easy over the Clash's Rock the Casbah. Brilliant. Up till now, this was my favourite album, tons of very creative mixes of music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s.

Live'r Than You'll ever be is his performance from a live music festival. It's all in one track, so it's more for the hardcore Kleptones fan.

The new Uptime continues the previous formula of the harder side of 24 hours. Maybe a bit more focused on heavy guitar samples. Sample Track MKY DA HVN. Inna Gadda Davida, Sunshine of your Love, Pixies, melts into Killing in the Name Of. Also, the way the first two tracks melt into the Beastie's Sabotage is also brilliant.

The new Downtime is a new departure into softer and less obvious dance mixes. I only became aware of this yesterday, so I don't have a preferred sample yet. Though the vocals from Maps is swell.

As said before, they are all free, so you can download them to your computer if you play when you are at or around your computer. Also, each of the albums has it's own wiki page, so you can see some of the tracks and movie clips used in the songs.

Obviously, and part of the fun, is this guy also has a huge political edge regarding copyright and copyright reform. Lots of samples reference copyright issues/reform/"piracy." As he uses very popular stuff, he can't charge for these remixes without getting sued. Which is a shame because he is very talented and creative, but as I understand it he does pretty alright in getting paid to DJ this stuff live.

EDIT: Oh snap, MKY DA HVN has a video
