Totally try with soymilk if possible. The soy absorbs the flavour and you don't feel as sick after 15 of them.

I tend to prefer Almond milk as a non-dairy alternative for baking, cooking, and drinking. But I also crave the texture of heavy cream.

Yea almond milk is better for me too, plus too much soy boosts your estrogen levels.

From pretty much everyone I know
http://www.breastcancer.org/risk/everyone/question/soy.jsp
http://www.drlam.com/opinion/soyandestrogen.asp

The actual studies have mixed results though.

Edit: This is a pretty lulzy article

"The estrogen-like substances (isoflavones) in soy may stimulate the estrogen receptors of breast cancer cells and make them grow."

This is not the same as boosting estrogen levels. If it were, women on menopause would be all over it, as would PMU farms... it doesn't work the way you think, I'm guessing. It appears to cause certain cancer cells to become more receptive to estrogen that is already present, NOT to boost the levels of estrogen in the body.

You're safe.

Re: The Drunk Thread - Surf314 - 12-31-2009

I like tofu a lot so I stay away from soy milk just in case, the studies are mixed but I'd just as soon stay on the safe side and reduce my unfermented soy intake. I know a friend of my parents can't have soy because of some woman problem I forget what, that was the main source I heard about this from. Then all of the sudden everyone was telling me to avoid unfermented soy (I also have a friend studying natureopathic medicine).

You know what, never mind. Avoid what you like.

He's actually in one of 4 or 5 actual science based schools in the US. He was actually telling me that one of the main problems is that they don't regulate those types of medicine so a lot of quacks debase the field.

Granted, it started becoming hard to find as it got more popular.

Not actually, actually. It's kinda telling when naturopathy is not regulated / licensed in most states (and a few provinces), yet cosmetologists / barbers are. Not that all naturopathic treatments are bad (some are fine), but if one wanted to focus on the practice of naturopathy, it would seem advisable to get primary training in a field of medicine where one could actually get a license, like allopathic or osteopathic medicine, nursing, or nutrition.

Re: The Drunk Thread - [fr31ns]Karrde - 01-01-2010

Yeah, so, interesting evening.

I was completely sober before 2 am.  As of 4:47 am, I'm completely shit faced.  Good, fun night over all.

Re: The Drunk Thread - Surf314 - 01-01-2010

I didn't get drunk last night, one beer and I started getting nauseous thanks to my antibiotics  :'(.
