Dead Rising... - cbre88x - 07-16-2008

For Wii

A reason to keep my Wii? Most certainly.

Re: Dead Rising... - Wedge - 07-16-2008

Still wanting a PC port of that game =<

Re: Dead Rising... - CaffeinePowered - 07-16-2008

Played the 360 version, hated it for the same reason I did not like GTA. Its fun for like a week, but then smashing the same Zombie's head in for the 1000th time with a bowling ball gets a bit boring.

The one thing that I REALLY hated was that if you missed one "story" part you lost it all and had to wait out the rest of the time, start a new game+ and then go at it again. I stopped after for the third time I had saved in one part of the mall and was unable to get all the way back across to start a critical mission and thus lost the story.

God damn was that annoying.

I will now take caff's word for anything game related.  These are my feelings exactly.

Re: Dead Rising... - cbre88x - 07-16-2008

I've heard such good things about it, but Caff is usually right in these respects. Damnit.

Re: Dead Rising... - dapngwnman - 07-16-2008

I could never get a hold of the controls effectively on the 360. And I like the original Resident Evil controls :S

Maybe I can waggle some zombies to death in the Wii version. Worth a rental.

Re: Dead Rising... - cbre88x - 07-16-2008

Reasons to keep my Wii are slimming everyday and since the introduction of the Wii motion +..I think Nintendo is trying to sap my wallet with forcing me to buy a new accessory to play a new game.

Well, the 1st adapter is bundled with the game, which will retail at 50$. So, I'm guessing they'll be like 20-30$ a pop.

It really all depends on how many dev houses utilize the motion plus in their upcoming games.

Also, if you sell a console, one of your testicles falls off. Sorry to tell ya Sad

Since it promises 1:1 most development houses will use it..especially 1st party. But that's not the only accessory. Look at the Wii Fit Balance Board. The new Rayman Raving Rabbids uses it, Wii Music..Wii sells are driven by peripherals and I simply don't have the money to buy tons of peripherals. I'm sure next E3 or whatever replaces it they will announce a new peripheral that you have to have to play a certain game. I'd rather just build a high end computer instead of wasting money on a company that isn't providing the same experience they used to years ago. They have the means to provide excellent new things, but instead they are catering to this new fad machine. That's cool to cater to the casual, but you have to remember the hardcore people are the ones who stick around.

You can look at it in two different ways.  Either they are money hungry and trying to make you spend as much as possible or they are trying to innovate the way you interact with games and that means making more peripherals.  It's probably a combination of both.

But I can't afford a bunch of expensive peripherals either - I left my wallet in El Segundo  :-[

Yeah... I was going to defend it by saying that the game story itself (the three days until the helicopter arrives) only takes like 5 hours or so. But it is pretty annoying that to do some things you have to have a route completely planned out beforehand.

That and the fact that you can only have the one save file, so if you get into the situation you got into, you either finish the story another way or have to start over.

Re: Dead Rising... - Squishy3 - 07-17-2008

Yeah... there's that too. I once had four survivors at once, until I ran into a few zombies... Then I had one.  :-\
