The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - MrGrey - 07-18-2008

great movie.  see it.

Do NOT compare Heath to Nicholson.. you have to go into this movie understanding that the original Batman is Tim Burton's rendition and this series stays true to the comic book, mostly.  You have to look at them as 2 separate entities or you will hate it, not only that, but you will do nothing but dwell on the fact that Heath isnt Jack, which he isnt.  They play 2 entirely different roles, in a sense, so try your best to separate them even though its kinda hard.

P.S.  Snape kills dumbledor

Dark Knight:  greatest movie or greatest movie ever?

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - Budr - 07-18-2008

Why the fuck would they delay the release over here by one week. Cereally, what earthly purpose can that serve other than to fuck me right off.

Damn right they do. That's why they released it here 2 days early Big Grin

I've already seen it twice and @grey, even if you do compare Heath and Jack, Heath comes out on top by a mile

Keep waiting.  I grew up on Marvel, so I've got nothing to add.  Besides, everyone knows who the best Joker really was

i just gave you the biggest smite i could ever possibly give someone.. dont you EVER say that blasphemous shit again.. Heath Ledger does not compare to Jack Nicholson in any way shape or form.. even if you were to compare them 99.9% of the world knows that Jack is the ultimate joker and no one will ever touch that role.

Can't believe I'm saying this but.....Listen to Mr.Grey. Ugh there I said it. Now I gotta go drink till I forget I ever said that.

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - Surf314 - 07-18-2008

It's two completely different takes on the franchise.  The old tim burton movies followed the direction the TV show took it, which was goofy and campy.  Nolan is taking it in the direction where the comic books went which is really dark and psychological.

Jack's definately a better actor than Heath, but I personally hated his Joker, as I hated all the old Batman films.

I'm lactose intolerant when it comes to films and those ones made me sick to my stomach.

So, who do you think was the best Batman, Adam West?

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - MrGrey - 07-18-2008

michael keaton was the best batman... the original batman cannot be touched.  But again, they are 2 entirely seperate movies you cant really compare them.  But if you had to compare role to role Jack blows Heath away by a landslide.. as keaton does adam west or any other idiot that played batman.

fuck you trace :p

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - Surf314 - 07-18-2008

Jack is a legend, Heath is kind of under rated.  He steals a lot of mannerisms and techniques from Val Kilmer who is also extremely under rated.  You see Salton Sea or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang?  If not go now!

In dog town I could have sworn it was heath playing val playing the character.  It annoyed the piss out of me.  I still think Heath is under rated though, even if he does steal shit.

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - HeK - 07-18-2008

I tried to see Dark Knight at the IMax.... they were sold out into next week!

I guess 'normal' theater will have to do.

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - Surf314 - 07-18-2008

I saw it, it was really really good.  I think why Nolan is so successful is that he definitely reads a lot of Batman comics, and he takes the best scenes from a lot of them.  But the cool thing is is the story itself is original.  That way there is enough to keep the comic fans surprised but still be true to the source.

That said I was surprised how much was pulled from Gotham Central, which isn't even about Batman it's about the police force in Gotham.  It's a great series and if you are interested I'd recommend it.  Also the long Halloween is one it seemed to pull from.

Re: The Dark Knight (no spoilers) - KarthXLR - 07-19-2008

The Dark Knight (after seeing it) is seriously ranked at my favorite film of all time.
