Thanks for having me last evening! - |GW|Mord - 07-16-2008

I was highly amused by the screams of "MORD! YOU HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE! RUN! SWEET BABY RAY, PRESS 'L'".

So here I am to apologize for my rather extreme noobishness!

Last night I learned that:

A: You lot are all VERY much better with controls and targeting than I am.

B: The Heavy, despite have a very large gun, still needs to hit the target several times to kill it.

C: I really need to look around more, especially when being HIT BY SOMEONE BEHIND ME.

D: When everyone on the opposing team has those little "gloves punching" over their heads, it means that every one of them has killed me. Several times.

E: That you all are a very kind and forgiving group. I appreciate you having me along!

I'll get better... I hope. This is a lot of fun!

So the L key is the button to drop intel?

Shit...

LOL, oh man I want to play with you  ;D

Mord, you were pure comedy.

I wish all newer players were so carefree and could take us LOVINGLY yelling at you Big Grin

Re: Thanks for having me last evening! - NiceGuy - 07-16-2008

It was fun. A word of advice though: Heavies usually take 4-5 rockets to kill (excluding crits), so if you are playing heavy and notice that you get hit by one but don't see where they are coming from, stop what you're doing and run  Wink

Don't walk out in open areas as a heavy by yourself. It only takes one sniper round to take you out. And if you have a medic with you i will be more inclined to take out the medic first.

yeah, I will bear that in mind! It did seem that most of my deaths resulted from snipers, but some of you did an ace job of blowing me up (Demoman) or clubbing me to death (scout).

Heheh... Good times! Smile

The pleasure is ours. We love having TF2 virgins.

Fess up, how many times did you try to hit "T" to target the next enemy?

To be totally honest, I'm unaware that there is an auto-targetting feature. So I was simply aiming by putting the big target circle on the target and ... well, you know the rest. Right about now, one of you is shaking his head, repeating "noob" over and over...

So, yeah... gonna go do some online research on playing this game, and the Heavy...

Re: Thanks for having me last evening! - Greatbacon - 07-16-2008

Caff did some class guides and a general tips and trick guide back in December.  Here is the Heavy guide, which has links to all the other guides as well.  Might be a good place to start.

thanks! I've been delving in the tf2wiki and learned a few things. here's a question for y'all... what's the hotkey to weapon-swap? I was aware that I had a shotgun, and it did seem that it would be smart to swap in close quarters, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to swap?

Its default I believe is 'Q' if not, than I would suggest using Q, since its easy to tap off of a WADS setup.

Dont use anything but the chaingun at close quarters with the heavy. I reserve the shotgun for long range and retreating.

The scroll wheel works wonders.

I noticed that... but it didn't seem to 'commit' to a weapon? I'll have to play with it a bit more.

Re: Thanks for having me last evening! - cbre88x - 07-16-2008

Yea, default quick-switch is 'Q'.

Re: Thanks for having me last evening! - |GW|Chimp - 07-16-2008

Do yourself a favor and learn to use the 1-2-3 buttons for weapons.  It'll become second nature eventually and it'll help with other FPS games in the future as most use that kind of weapon switching scheme.  All IMO, of course.
