That still doesn't solve the case of the substance made of cognitive dissonance and where we could acquire an amount.

yeah, he left before I could blossom into the man-whore I've become.  I'm sure he would have had pointers.

Why the hell did we/do we put gold into computers?

Because Au makes for one of the best conductors, but more importantly it does not corrode, technically silver and copper are better, but they are also more easily corroded and worn down.

Fun fact, due to it sucked at carrying a charge, you can actually immerse your computer in deionized water and it will still run, though you would have to keep the system completely closed since water is an amazing solvent and adding anything to it causes its conductivity to increase.

DI water is not the same as mineral oil...

No, not at all, but it was the only link I could find for a liquid build, I could not find one with pictures that actually used deionized water, but it is technically possible.

I've heard of it being done with heavy oils at times as well, one used motor oil.

Non-political response... It's a consumer response... I promise...

this project is suspicious... the comic goes out of its way to obscure the fact that you're making a election campaign donation (FWIW, he lost the D primary yesterday)... no plan to ensure "First Nation" leader accountability to members... there's no plan (or promise) for disclosure on how the project seed money is spent... no way to get the money back if this pay-me-for-using-facebook idea craps out or disappears... and it's way too easy to damage the project and cause internal strife by creating a troll nation.

If the groups want to form non-profits or PACs on their own principles, they'd be better served by doing it themselves and cutting out this group of mediators.

The cartoon pitch puts a new face on unoriginal ideas, lacks crucial details, and stinks of a pyramid scheme. Too sketchy for my $. Everyone else, Cavet Emptor.

Hopefully it wasn't 'used motor oil', as that contains contaminates and bits of metal.

Hell, I wouldn't use motor oil at all as it generally contains solvents.

Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - copulatingduck - 08-05-2010

runs incredibly quiet, eliminates the need for some moving parts, would probably be ideal servers if it weren't so goddamn troublesome to open up

I've seen videos where mineral oil was used instead. However, I think mineral oil poses a health risk.

[/quote]Yeah, but why have the computer in water? Unless your NASA, I don't think anything drastic is needed.
