Actually, men can't distinguish reds as well as women.

Nope
[/quote]The gene for being able to see red is carried in the X chromosome, and since women have two they can distinguish reds better than men.
You're just weird, i guess. D:

+1 for Hipster Hitler tab

Also Tortilla, I'm kind of doubtful that having two X chromosomes "enhances" the expression of the genes therein. More copies of a gene != higher protein transcription.

This ^

Genetics doesn't work that way, the only time this matters is in color blindness, since females have two X chromosomes, if you have one bad copy and one good one you don't have the disorder. If you're a guy you're SOL, hence why X-Linked recessive disorders typically affect men. In order for a female to get such a disorder you'd have to have an affected man marry a woman who was a carrier and even then its still a 50/50 shot.

So, if you want to blame your mother for something, this would be one of those things.

I probably shouldn't have slept through my entire biology class freshman year. Oh well.

I blame my mother for everything.

Reasons we need genetic engineering: So we're not so resentful of our mothers.

Wow, that's so so so so wrong.

COLORBLINDNESS is often sexlinked to the y chromosome....
COLORVISISON, is not sexlinked to anything.  we have three photoreceptors.  Women don't have extra red cones, and if they did, more red cones would not help you distinguish more shades of red.  it's just not how it works.
