I know the article was about religious knowledge, but I do have to wonder how Religious people fare vs. atheists in general intelligence.
It would likely show a similar trend]

I dunno. I mean, Da Vinci was Catholic, and he was one of the greatest minds of all time. Showing similar threads, Einstein had a deep spiritual belief too.

Being spiritual != being religious. I think most people associate religiosity with blind faith, which is exactly the argument being made in the comments to the article - that faith is SUPPOSED to be blind. Also, just because Da Vinci and Einstein were religious/spiritual doesn't mean they were unquestioningly accepting of their respective religious doctrine.

Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - beep beep diglett - 09-29-2010

intelligence =/= education.

so you can't really read or write anything more than your name, and your pastor tells you what's in that book and you're kinda sol on reading any others or reading the whole book, so you never really get to decide.

ofc if they can't read they can't do this poll, but replace read with, iunno, read at a 6th grade level and you get some of these results.

just generally though, intelligence is completely different than education. i mean, tardle's educated at what, 8th grade level? And yet.

Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - PyroZombie - 09-29-2010

Ehh, I find the entire thing on God vs Evolution completely stupid and childish.

There is utterly no point in it. At the end of the day, we all have something we depend on, Whether it unearthly, or tangible. Its coded in us, we need to have something we feel we need, feel safe with, or to associate to. Some people it's a man in the sky, wishing us the best and taking the bad things from the world, or it's a good luck ritual to push the odds in our favor, a cup of coffee, a faithful companion, a Rubik's cube you solved from the seventh grade, we all have something.

The real question is; Who the hell cares who's right?

Re: Neat stuff (non-lulz but interesting things) - Dtrain323i - 09-29-2010

Here's the way I look at it:

If someone wants to be an Atheist, go right ahead. Being a Christian is about having a PERSONAL relation to Jesus. It's not about making sure everybody goes to your church. We are supposed to witness to people but were supposed to be a witness by how we as Christians live our own lives. Beating someone over the head with a Bible doesn't accomplish that.

When I die and it turns out we as Christians are wrong, no harm no foul. We just become plant food and the circle of life continues. But if I'm right, then I will wind up in heaven for eternity.

So if you want to rag on my for my "imaginary zombie friend in the sky" go ahead. ("you" being in a general sense not necessarily BRBU)

It's no skin off my back.
