This guy [Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQgRQEDFHaI37doQu9bHvg...ea1osR8wfB] is the voice of [Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQlPSr4mB_EzRqkIt30M4_...wDk-nwrP0A] this guy. Why am I not surprised that he plays a tentacle rapesque monster?

I love meta-advertising when it doesn't suck.

Several years old, but this doc on Daniel Tammet (high-functioning savant, basically the "rain man" but with relatively developed social skills) is awesome.

People respond better to prosthetics that look like machinery, rather than prosthetics that look "like a real arm". Thanks to 3-D printers people can design their own fairings for their "upgraded" limbs, instead of settling for a blob of plastic in a range of 5 flesh tones.

The problem with "real" looking prosthetics is that they fall into the uncanny valley (at best) and end up looking strange.

I'm glad that 3D printing technology has made this sort of prosthetic customization more accessible. The prosthetic becomes a personal or fashion statement and is no longer simply a medical device.

I always said I'd be good with losing my leg below my knee.  That hasn't come to pass yet.  Maybe next time?

Also- Automail looking prosthetic would be freaking awesome.  Â
