HeK and you other printnerds might have seen this already:

Print out an AR-15 receiver.  It can be used to construct an entirely functional handgun.

I don't see to what you are referring.  I checked the urls myself and the sites are nowhere near similar in any of the posts.  Come on, now.

AR15.com != forbes.com

I don't know what you are talking about.

The ar15.com thread is where the 3D printing thing started.

TCP Performance problems caused by interaction between Nagle's Algorithm and Delayed ACK (or why always having two packets in flight reduces latency)

Stolen Toast is giving us a fine example of Poe's Law.

Also, for those not paying super-close attention to this, The Pirate Bay announced in January that they started a new category (physibles) for 3-d printing specifications of physical objects. Of the first specs uploaded were a portrait of Chris Dodd (who burned his moderately decent legacy in the flames of SOPA) captioned with an AACS key (used to decrypt HD DVD or BLU RAY) and an AR-15 lower receiver. Read more here. An excellent test of the first two amendments at the same time.

The current story making the rounds is about the first widely-publicized test of someone actually printing and shooting some rounds through a lower receiver made via 3-d printing. Also an excellent test of the first two amendments at the same time.

I want to see a .308 lower printed. I'd be curious at how well that would hold up

I would love to, but I must first figure out my print quality issues, then rebuild with a larger printing platform.

Yeah, we're much better about that in the US. Instead of the Government doing it, Parents do.

I think the idea is that there is a profound difference between people abusing themselves for personal glory and a government abusing its people for the furtherment of the government's agenda.

Are you talking about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?

No? How about the TSA?

Also, friends don't link friends to the Daily Mail.
