lol seabreeze i love your modded dell box

Re: Is my power supply big enough? - cbre88x - 12-22-2008

I'm pretty sure when it is complete, I'm going to get pictures and send them to Dell. I'm very much considering ductaping the PSU on top...and I'm pretty sure my heatsink for the new proc. is going to stick out some. So this is going to be one hell of a Frankenstein.

Re: Is my power supply big enough? - Vandamguy - 12-22-2008

well it certainly couldnt get any worse.

anything you add at this point is only going to make it better

duct tape , cathode lights , maybe a warming plate for your hot chocolate

Re: Is my power supply big enough? - Vlambo - 12-22-2008

Can you ducktape a lamp with some coloured lightbulb onto it? That's like UBER LEDS man

I am not an electrical engineer.

Is there any danger to running a psu outside of the case? I would assume that screwing the psu into the case helps to ground / discharge static. I'd think taping a psu on top of a painted surface would be a static risk.

Then again, I am not an electrical engineer. Also,

SEBREEZE, GO SPEND 50 Bucks on a Case already!

Additionally,

Sponson totally needs to draw the frankencomputer.

ohhhh I'm workin' on it. This charlie foxtrot of a case has got to go before I go insane. I'm probably going to end up pulling an Office Space on it as well.

There seems to be some preapplied paste on the heatsink. I bought arctic silver for it. Should I remove what is aready on the heatsink?

depends on the manufacturer of the heatsink. some ship with some good shit that is pre-applied better than I can do.

ya , wipe it
use rubbin alcohol or lighter fluid , or nailpolish remover

Re: Is my power supply big enough? - cbre88x - 12-24-2008

scratch that....Dell..once again had to be a motherfucker..didn't put anchors on the motherboard so I can't put on the heatsink I got. Granted AMD gave it to me for free..still..it's a pretty nice heatsink.. I am cleaning off the old one and putting it back on. I'll just save it until I get a new motherboard.

Re: Is my power supply big enough? - cbre88x - 12-24-2008

It's in. No BIOs update required. I'm going to try it out now. Can someone send me a link to freeware to check on temps?
