what is the benefit of dual wielding weapons?
Double damage.  This isn't rocket surgery folks.
It only attacks with one weapon at a time though. can you swing both at the same time or does it raise attack speed?

You press M1 and M2 at the same time and you swing both weapons.  Same way you double blast spells.

In my short experiences with dual wielding weapons; only good for power attacking an enemy from behind/hidden and that's only really for daggers

Also, holy shit why do spriggans rape my poor elf every time I fight them?

Try Chaurus, they're like armored Cazadores from New Vegas with more health. Only consolation there is that the move slower.

Enchanting is so much money too iron dagger with soul trap will get you 500g
using banish now gives me 3x more than soul trap
1500 for that iron dagger? ? Yes plz
definately the way to go if you don't want to steal your way to riches

new plan for enchants though i don't think there is an enchant to bolster your enchants. However there is a improve weapons and armor improvements. And you can put it on 5 diff pieces of armor estimating you can get it up to +50% on each piece. There's a potion that will give you better enchants for a short time so make that around 65% on 5 pieces. +315% weapon and armor improvements. And there potion that will give you another 50%.
So then we take that dragonscale breastplate at 90ar should be 328ar on just the chest.

Similar with the dagger i use 40x3.65 146 dmg  the x 15 for backstab 2190 dmg? ??????????????????

Hnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg
While I'm not entirely sure, I don't think that will work. I believe they cap improvements through tiers, (Fine, Superior, Exquisite, and Flawless.) whether or not I drink a blacksmith potion with my gauntlets of major smithing, I make the same tier each way.
yeah Im not sure either but my experience with stacking enchants was gloves and a ring that added 1h dmg and they both appeared in the active effects window? ?
Didn't get enough time to play last night to finish my experiment but ill post pics when Im done

Pro:
You can sacrifice your companion to Boethiah to start a quest for some bitchin ebony armor.
Con: You have to go through the tiring journey of taking the shit they own off of them once they die all the way to a town to sell it.  :'(

Um well aside from my sneak missions, the housecarls I was given are pretty good at being the tank in my fights so I can pin heads with arrows without taking much damage. They also carry stuff for you, so there's another person's worth of carrying capacity. The two biggest cons I've experienced are that they'll set off traps and you run a high risk of accidentally last hitting them if you get into an ugly fight.

Another con, a certain quest in a Barrow;
A Scroll for Anska has, you escorting a fireball-happy mage who has a penchant for catching companions in the blast radius of her spells, and since your companions don't share your immunity to friendly fire, this caused her and Lydia to fight each other for the length of the dungeon until the boss room.
(11-17-2011, 03:42 PM)Eschatos link Wrote: I have come to the conclusion that Illusion is actually pretty shitty.  All of the spells that affect enemies have level caps where they stop working.  I just got to Master yesterday and the Master fury spell works on enemies up to level 25.  With my perks that increase max level of illusion spells it now affects enemies up to level 28.  In other words, since I'm now in my mid 30's most enemies are immune to illusion and will remain that way for the rest of the game.

They really dropped the ball in that sense. Also the fact that for the most part, skills are now useful for only getting to perks vs actually being natural skill progression. Partly because in order to be any good with a skill you need specific perks that make it usable, and partly because the game is balanced with you getting said perks. Jack of all trades with 50 skill across 5-6 different skills and perks spread across as well? You will get raped x12 compaired to the guy who specilized in just two skills and and used all the perks in the tree, even if they don't have "access" to as many skill types as you do. They really shouldn't have done stuff like "DAMAGE" and "ATTACK SPEED/TIMES" as perks... only stuff that add new abilities or augment your current ones.

Smithing is exceptionally broken in this reguard - the skill itself (number wise) is 100% useless, as the only way you can actually craft higher level armor is if you get the perk associated with it. They really should have made it so you can craft any level armor from the get go, but make it almost impossible to do high level stuff unless you have a high enough skill. I don't know of the best way to do this (if it was simply up to chance people would just reload over and over till they got it), but that would work much better than the current system. Have the perks add bonuses or something, instead of deciding when you can start smithing something new.

There is also much less depth+variety in standard items this time around. There are pretty much only 4 weapon types in melee - sword, axe, mace, dagger. Archery only has bows, and mages just get staves. Twohanded is exactly the same, except with two handed versions, get rid of dagger and replace mace with warhammer.

It kind of sucks how shallow it is in content, but they make up for it in the sense that there is now much more unique weapons and armors in the categories (such as Dawnstar, plus many special groups of bandits or factions will have their own unique weapons, like the curved swords of the Alakir or the Foresworn Armor+weapons, etc). And that all of them aren't annoying or bad to play as. I just wish they had more content depth. At least they have a much wider bredth now, which is great and really helps keep everything feeling unique and interesting. I love that there are 2-3 different types of Fur Armors you can get, and same with Steel. Even if they all work exactly the same as other fur armor (so more types of fur armors dont add any depth), but it really helps out cosmetically to have different types (which adds plenty of breadth).

------------------------------

EDIT: Just had an idea for smithing. Make it so you can try and craft any type of armor/weapon from the get go, but it requires you to actually own at least one piece of armor in that set. I.E. you can't craft Daedric if you've never seen or held a daedric weapon before, and the only item you'll be able to make at first is a copy of whatever you have (after the first one it'll "unlock" the whole set for you to attempt). Perhaps you can find hidden books around the world that automatically make this knowledge avalable?

Higher level armors require more "time" to make, and have a chance of failing if your skill isn't good enough. So if you have a daedric dagger at level 25 smithing and try to craft another one, the animation might take a long time (30sec to a min max?) and then use up your ingredients, with a chance of failure (at 25 skill it will pretty much be 100% if you make daedric). If you fail though, you still get skill boost. Not nearly as much as if you succeed mind you.

However if you are at 100 skill and try to make a daedric dagger, the animation will be much shorter (maybe only 5 seconds), and with a very good chance of success.

This does two things: prevents people from just reloading to try and exploit the random chance (as they'll have to wait on the animation at low skills for high level armors, so fuck that), and makes it so you no longer rely 100% on perks to "magically" gain the knowledge to instantly craft and spew out daedric weapons.

My guess on the smithing thing is that the level is your knowledge and skill combined, meaning that once you hit 90 and get the perk, you have the required knowledge and skill to properly create Daedric equipment.

ive completed my compounded smithing experiment and it was a complete success. the bonuses stacked as i thought they would (although not the 365% i estimated)

with enchanting mastered (and perked) i was able to create a ring , necklace , chest , and gauntlets that increased my smithing improvments by 28%(on each piece)(25% without the enchanters elixer)
i then decided to hit the forge with my new smithy set and make up a glass dagger and sword (base dmg of 20 and 26 respectively)
popped my blacksmithys elixer (for another 50%. thats 28+28+28+28+50=162%!) and sat at the grind stone the legendary versions of my dagger and sword then became 89 and 95.

backstabs with my dagger should be doing arounds 1335 dmg

boner boner boner.

im not sure what im going to enchant my weapons with yet. i think the charge system is retarded.

after i get another blacksmithy elixer im going to finalize my Dragonscale , then enchant them bitches.

You need to mix in some enchantments for +alchemy, then use those to make some potions of +blacksmithing, and then repeat the cycle from the beginning for ridiculous armor/weapons.

There's one mine near an orcish town, I think near Markarth that has dozens of ebony veins in it.  That'll let you make a full set of ebony or daedric(assuming you have enough hearts).
