I just wanted to know if there was some reason I would need it - like some feature I can't live without or something. |

I'm seriously considering going back to school part time to get an MBA. Being a server jockey isn't as fulfilling as I'd hoped and I don't really see myself on the path of becoming a senior Windows/Linux guru or whatever. I think I want to try to get into the meat of a company and work with strategic planning and the like. The program I want to attend requires at least two years work experience so I fulfill just about all the requirements needed. Still need to take the GMAT or GRE exam (leaning towards the GRE right now) and get some professional recommendations, not to mention secure some grant/scholarship money if possible, all before Nov 15 if I want to start in the spring. The company I work for does offer tuition assistance, however I have to get it approved my manager and the annual limit won't even cover one 9 credit semester. I've got the time for it so as long as I can secure some financial assistance there really isn't a downside to doing this.

I can't remember which is which, but one of the two tests is for MBAs and the other is a more generic 'graduate school' test. As you go looking, personally, I'd look for full time programs. Trying to do the work/school thing will limit your choices to schools in the near vicinity which may or may not be good depending on the program you go into. Also it can take 3 - 5 years to complete :/ Â Sig by Joel |

GRE is for graduate school in general. It's reasonably easy to prepare for and covers quantitative reasoning, vocabulary, and writing. Plus its offered pretty much year round. Don't know much about GMAT.
