1. You can't find a state that has always been red or blue.
2. Knowledge is recommended before playing democracy. If you have the time and intelligence to follow your favorite sports team or the career of your favorite movie star, then you have the basic skills needed to apply. Don't tell me that you care about who will win MVP or an Oscar then turn your nose up at politics - those are surely rigged worse than elections. 3. Democracy: if you aren't participating, then you are doing it wrong. But then again, if you are sitting on the sidelines that makes it easier to push my agenda forward. |

Tonight, I voted on a candidate for President, a Louisiana U.S. Senate seat and a few amendments which I understood enough to know where I stood on them. My decisions reflect my beliefs, and my participation in this process brought me happiness. I voted for selfish reasons: I want certain individuals representing me in government, and I want certain changes made to bodies of law that apply to me. To those ends, I afforded myself of the only system, rot-gutted or otherwise, that's available to me to effect these changes. Not a single person here or anywhere on this entire planet can lessen the worth of my votes through debate, fraud or intimidation because *I know what I wanted and I took actions to make my wishes known*. I will suffer no criticism of my participation in this process; you're welcome to declare it, but I will not acknowledge it. I pledge allegiance to this country, the United States of America, and I will respect the candidate who becomes President and all the other individuals who are chosen for their respective offices.

I like this. I know and respect people who are voting for McCain (my dad is one). And of course the reverse. |

[/quote] As do I. I only resent voters who vote based on vacuous, silly fixations like flag pins or stiff arms. If you know what you want, go for it. If you don't know shit or don't care, go be a fucking commie. I'm sure France'd be glad to have you: I hear they even celebrate a new administration with cake. |
