To move the discussion.  Read it.

Quote:In the series, on July 17, 2002, something (referred to as a plague) simultaneously kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome — including embryos, fertilized eggs, and even sperm. The only exceptions appear to be Yorick Brown, a young amateur escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand.

Society is plunged into chaos as infrastructures collapse, and the surviving women everywhere try to cope with the loss of the men, their survivor guilt, and the knowledge that humanity is doomed to extinction. Vaughan crafts the new society that emerges out of this chaos, from the conversion of the Washington Monument into a monument to the dead men, to the genesis of the fanatical ultra-feminist Daughters of the Amazon, who believe that Mother Earth cleansed itself of the "aberration" of the Y chromosome, to male impersonators becoming valued romantically and professionally.

Over the course of their journey, Yorick and his friends discover how society has coped in the aftermath of the plague. However, many of the women they encounter have ulterior motives in regard to Yorick. Though the subject matter of the series is entirely serious, Y: The Last Man is also noted for its humor. Yorick in particular is a source of one-liners, although the other characters have their moments as well.

Great series that just finished last January. Basically every male mammal on the planet suddenly dies except for one guy (Yorick) and his pet monkey (Ampersand). What follows is a surprisingly deep study on how people try to cope with huge disasters, how governments try to maintain control, not to mention all of the changes the main characters face over the course of their globetrottin' journey. Highly recommended.

Or I could not go and hope that they have a comic book series/hardcover collection since they probably don't, and instead download it. Big Grin

Also, no access to torrents, spoofed net atm, very limited on what I can access, so if anyone DOESN'T have a link to a direct download or DOESN'T want to upload the collection, I would appreciate it.

I might NOT be able to help you out, but it WON'T be until tomorrow when I DON'T have access to the books myself. DON'T send me a PM to remind me.

So after all this talk about Y I went to IMDB to find out what the status of the movie is.  Shia Labeouf (or whatever) turned down the role of Yorick because the character was "too much like Sam Witwicky from Transformers."

Thank god?

This is one of my favorite comic book artists, he does most of the work on Lucifer after the first few issues.

only on 3rd issue, plot seems pretentious so far.

It's based on the devil from The Sandman.  Basically Dream makes a fool of the devil so either in an act of revenge or rebellion he empties out hell, gets Dream to cut off his wings and hands over the keys to Dream. Then Dream goes through a lot of trouble because just about every metaphysical entity wants it.  Eventually god sends down 2 of his angels to take over because heaven needs a hell.  One of them is the angel of silence and he's a pretty good guy the other I forget what he is angel of but he is pretty prideful and basically a dick (pretty much falls because of the pressure).

So that's where Lucifer picks up.  He's in retirement running a bar on earth but still pretty much a dick.  It's heavily based on religious dogma and mythology, so if you like that kinda stuff its really good.  But like most comics it takes a bit to hit its stride.  Although in my opinion it gets interesting faster than Sandman did, and I'd place them on similar footing as far as good story telling and modernization of myths and such.
