I like how somehow MrGrey has the most intelligent post in this thread.

Also, there no point voting in South Carolina. It has been about 90% Republican since before I was born and will be that way after I die. It makes no difference how I feel about it.

That's what people in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia said too...however Georgia has a chance of going blue, North Carolina an even better chance, and Virginia will BE blue.

If you don't get it, that flip can never happen. Early voting in Georgia was like 75% of TOTAL voting in the 2004 elections. Theres probably a lot more people that would vote for obama in your state than you'd think.

I got a great drinking game for tonight.  Everyone go buy some Old Rasputin (beer) and some black currant or raspberry lambic (beer).  When McCain takes a state drink a shot of Old Rasputin.  When Obama takes a state take a shot of lambic.  Reverse if you are pro-McCain.

Edit: on second thought keep it the same: Old Rasputin just fits McCain.  Also any suggestions for alternatives to the lambic?

I guess you've never done the tower of power or the power hour or the pyramid (I don't remember which is which but one is a shot of beer every minute for 60 minutes and another is 100 or something).  50 beers is retarded in a night you got a better idea?

I never said 50 entire beers. But 50 shots of beer in what, 4 hours.... That's like what, not much beer over 4 hours too long. But yea, 50 beers is way too much. :-\

OK how about you keep the shots but just fill the gaps with some cheap stuff since you are just going to be sitting around twiddling your thumbs anyways.

I dunno what stick got up your ass, I'm just saying it's easy to vote where I live, and it's stupid it's not as easy other places.  It's not absentee here, voting by mail is actually the standard system.

My apoligies for interpreting your response wrong.   Not sure what mood I was in to let that happen.

(11-04-2008, 09:27 AM)CopulatingDuck link Wrote: But to address your beef with the electoral college: once upon a time it was supposed to prevent candidates from campaigning in the heavily populated states. Since information didn't spread as easily before modern media and the internet, it was a way to give the littler guys a chance to have some representation as well. Obviously the system is more than a bit antiquated at this point, but as they say "let sleeping dogs lie" or something like that. :-\

What they could do in my opinion is if a candidate gets less than 2/3rds of the popular vote in a state then he should only get 2/3rds of the electoral vote.  That way votes count a whole lot more in every region instead of getting the flat electoral vote.  Really it is stupid that if Obama wins 99% of the vote in IL and say (hypothetically) McCain gets 54% of the votes in Texas McCain ends up with more electoral votes.
[/quote]

Hero.. your quote is "my mind is not for rent to any god or government" you obviously are "DEPROGRAMMED" and dont fall for this bullshit election garbage, so why are you even entertaining this?
