skyrim isn't using gamebryo engine, so i have little hope they'll release mod tools after this latest thing
edit: and if they do, i wouldn't be surprised if they promise mod tools and then release the mod tools long after launch (it's 5 months until MW3, and activision/treyarch still hasn't released tools for black ops) |

The difference is we have preview and gameplay that shows that clearly there is enough complexity and depth to this title to make it not matter at all if the 360 was the lead platform - I feel like this could easily be the best ES game made bar a really big mistake they would make. The visuals might not be as uber as they could be but bethesda finally learned what they learned in their Morrowind roots - that a good solid art style with a lot of depth, variation and interesting world design beats high res textures anyday. This looks like one of those games that just simply looks good, even if it technically isn't as up to date in stuff such as texture and shader details. |

This could be way better or slightly worse than Oblivion. Either way unless Bethesda incredibly fucks it up I'm buying it. Oblivion was massively flawed but it still gave me dozens of hours of fun.Â

That said, I have little to no interest in Skyrim and am just waiting for Bethesda to make their new Fallout game on that engine. So the CE got announced today, it has a big dragon statue, a making of dvd, an art book, and what looks like the same cloth map you get for preordering it. All for the low low price of $150 apparently.

Just saw 30 minutes of live gameplay footage at Quakecon... it went from me being a "meh, maybe I'll get it later" to "HOLY FUCK I NEED THIS!". Seriously, it looks amazing (not crysis level, but it was really impressive and he was running on the 360) and some of the features they showed were awesome. Dragons in it have tons of AI and just free-roam the world, sometimes they do firebombing runs, other-times they can pick up random NPCs and toss them. Also Dark Brotherhood returns.

It was a panel at Quakecon, and they asked people to not film because they don't want shaky cam footage of it as the first thing people see. Todd Howard said it would be put online though. I imagine once they send out press release footage it'll be all over. |
