Otakon! and.. Otakon Las Vegas?!?

Otakon registration has opened!
I'm still on the fence deciding whether or not I want to attend again.

But apparently Otakon is starting a new con in Las Vegas next January:

Anyone interested in attending? I've been to Vegas twice and had a blast both times. So if the con turns out to be a flop, at least there's the rest of Vegas to enjoy.

If I go, it'll be 50% con time, 50% fun LV time. I've heard that Vegas anime cons aren't the best, but this one is owned by Otakorp so we'll see how it turns out. Hopefully January is not as hot and dry as when I went during the summers.

I guess I should plan a FO:NV cosplay just in case. Pimp-Boy 3 000 000!

I was in Vegas in December 2009, it was in the 60s

This is something I might be interested in. I've been to Vegas so many fucking times and I sort of hate it because of that, but this is probably because I've only been with my family.

January can get pretty chilly. It gets windy in the desert and rain showers aren't too rare.

But on the flip side, this means that it's 4-ish hours driving distance, I'm legal now, and I know my way around the strip and other areas pretty well.

I think it'll be certainly way more fun when you're 21+ and with friends but there are definitely themed hotels and stuff geared towards the underaged. Vegas also seems to be a popular destination choice of international families with kids...hmmm.

If the programming isn't exciting and they don't have any cool guests, I'm probably not even going to get a badge for this since there is so much more to do at the location compared to a typical con.

I just want to point out that while I will be attending Otakon here in bmore, I'm not even thinking about attending Otakon Vegas. Since both of them seem to be in one thread.

There is the possibility that I can go to the Las Vegas con with a couple family members in tow. Only me and my sis would want to attend the con, but me ma showed some interest in strolling Las Vegas for a weekend road trip. My showing up depends entirely on them deciding to go, of which they'll need some time to come to a decision. I would only really go to the con for one day, then explore Vegas the rest of the weekend.

This is con I am interested in attending. I've done Magfest is getting a little stale and I've been saving up for a Vegas trip for a year now. Two birds, one stone.

Make sure to stop by the Otacafe for Kareoke and to say hi to my wife.  She'd enjoy that.

Every year, I dither about tagging along with her and hanging out.  The first time I went, though, I didn't have such a good experience.  Maybe one of these times, I'll put it behind me and go.
