Why is my 360 all retarded? :(

So I have a 1080p TV, it does 1080p fine over my VGA connection on my computer. But with my 360, 1080p is greyed out over HDMI. The only stuff I can find on Google is retarded people with 720 sets going "durr durr why doesn't this work? ;_;"

Is it all Wedge's fault? did he buy a crappy HDMI cable?

I mean, I do hook my PS3 up with HDMI, maybe I can help.

I would guess that your tv doesn't support HDCP or something, if there even is a such thing as a non-HDCP compliant HDTV with an HDMI port.

are you sure it's hooked up correctly? I mean, if not, you could always go out and buy some component cables.

The fact that you can use the HDMI at lower resolutions with no problem means your cable is fine and that it's most likely not an issue dealing with HDCP. A workaround would be to get the xbox 360 VGA cable. I use it at 1080p with no problems. Also, what is your signal flow? Are you running it through a receiver or anything of the sort? Are you able to run any other HDMI 1080p signals to the tv?

It's just the 360 -> TV directly.

I don't even have anything else that supports HDMI, lol.

I believe on the power brick there is a switch for HD settings. Check and see if that is checked on.

Lock thread plz, boyfriend is retarded.  360 is just too dumb to want to output to 1080p, it still does 720p, 1080i fine.  Nothing runs at 1080p on 360 anyways, so it doesn't matter.

Yea, I was gonna say... I got a 360 but it's one of the early ones that doesn't actually do 1080p, just 1080i (which honestly is probably sufficient)

Just kinda goes to show that Microsoft does a poor job of putting together consoles, or at least 360's. I mean RRoD, HDMI that only does 1080i.

I also paid $200 for the best console they had out at the time when the system launched (sweet rebates actually exist for secksbawks, never seen any for PS3 though I'll admit I don't keep a close eye out for them). How much did you pay again, a couple years after the fact?

That and you can easily pick up a used now 360 for $150 or less.  A 360 doesn't really have a lot to play on it when you have a PC, but still.  $320 is way too expensive for a crappy non-backcompat PS3.
