can always buy your own domain and setup an email through that.

I remember when people only got 4 Gmail invites at a time, and it actually meant something to have a gmail address  Tongue

gmail I think is the overall best e-mail provider so long as you install Gchat, it automatically alerts you when you have mail.

So does the gmail notifier on Firefox. And like, everything else.

Yeah gmail is good, but it is far from unknown hence all the good names are taken.  I probably tried fourty or fifty variations other than just throwing some numbers in at the end which I loathe.

I thought about that, but I don't want to go to that much trouble just yet.

EDIT:  Did a little research and found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMX_Mail
http://gmx.com/

Looks comparable to gmail and I was actually able to use just my name for my address.  Anyone have experience with this provider?

there was a way to register a mail at NET.Passport with any mails you wanted, just create an Email on Gmailo and when registering it at NET.Passport, write another direction when asked to create your own Net. passport account+

i used to spend a lot of time creating random mails, my favorite one was Venon@isapoke.mon

Protip:

Buy a domain from GoDaddy for cheap.

Get Google to host your email using Gmail servers for free: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/index.html
