well, I've got a fever.
I feel like I'm going crazy, I keep trying to go to sleep but my brain keeps trying to convince me that some nonsense about a minature airship once I go to sleep. This is not the first time this has happened, I can't sleep, just end up tossing and turning, having a hard time breathing, head if pulsing like crazy, and I've got a fever. The normal allergy remedy stuff doesn't appear to be working.

I have none. This apartment is sorely under-prepared for allergies or colds.

And now I still have to go into work, despite telling them I'm sick. How about that.

But remember that all is not lost from within the friend zone.
Yeah... Today was not so awkward, which is good, but I still am trying not to spend too much time around her. We walked back from English and all was fine, but there was defs a regretful train of thought running behind my eyes most of the time, and also for most of the class itself.

Also she's going out of her way to say hi nate/bye nate, which is probably a good thing, but its still fucking with my mind. I thought I was clear that I needed a few days first... I'll be half way out the door and I'll have to mutter an awkward bye, otherwise I'm being a dick.

Also one of her roommates (the one she asked for advice just prior to talking to me) did not say hello when I walked past her getting into the elevator this morning. Hopefully she's not mad about me failing to not be a dick some times.

At least the other roommate is going to drink with me tomorrow.

Just take it easy Stein. She didn't do anything wrong and was honest with you about how she felt, and so were you. Be patient and keep a cool head. Friend zone isn't all that fun, but you're still part of her life (if you choose to remain so). It can give you plenty of opportunities to observe and learn, and if you're patient enough and manage to grow closer to her as a friend, you will eventually find a time when you can try and escalate things again, possibly with better success. The friend zone also means you can go ahead and explore other people as well.

Just don't sabotage yourself by letting negative thoughts and emotions take over your mind. That's what can fuck everything over.

I might not be the best person to take relationship advice from, so take it all with a big grain of salt. If what I'm saying sounds like bullshit, let me know and I'll stop.

Seems like a good bunch of advice.

Don't think too darn hard about it, you might be creating situations that don't exist.

Right, I know. I do tend to overthink things a lot. I just need a few days to get my head back on straight and figure my shit out.

Oneitis, and how to cure it.

A view from a female: Let's be honest here. Relationships come with their pitfalls and imperfections, but reciprocated love is always going to win out over unrequited love. Every damn time. So be honest with yourself and take that person down from the pedestal. Wallow and pine for a bit longer if you are that masochistic (and I know most of us are), but then stop looking at their picture, get out of the house, go kiss other boys/girls if you need to, and quit devoting yourself to a lost cause.

A view from a male: Oneitis is a disease of the amygdala that presents as a total incapacitation of the man’s logic, reason and interest in hobbies, hygiene and restful sleep. Oneitis exists in two forms, a precoital and postcoital expression of the virus. The precoital, or “#1 crush”, form occurs when two conditions are met: A girl possesses a precise beauty of the face that closely matches the beauty template the man carries in his head for the perfect woman, and this girl is within the man’s visual and aural field. The postcoital, or “no girl will ever be as good as her”, form occurs when the same conditions are met, with the additional factor that the man has boffed the girl and is now not boffing her.

More simply:

Beauty + proximity = acute oneitis

Beauty + former proximity + memories = malignant oneitis

Malignant oneitis is much more damaging to a man’s health and self-esteem because it tends to be resistant to therapeutic intervention. Acute oneitis is often solved rather simply by administering an alpha-pak of anti-obsessives, which are slutty women almost as good looking as the infectious agent but more enzymatically compatible. Side effects include drowsiness after finally busting a nut in a flesh and blood sex partner.
