Surf, you need to stretch your wrist before you play..then play some simple patterns to warm up your muscles. Regardless of what kind of condition you have with your wrists..playing without stretching and warming up causes long term damage. This goes even for playing in a rock band or playing Rock Band. I see too many drumset players putting unnecessary strain on their body..not to mention inefficiency when they play.

Also..you won't be getting a hang drum unless you buy a first gen from Ebay.. I've been researching how to buy one for 3 years now and at the moment they are no longer making them (PANart). Until someone actually starts mass producing them legally I doubt I'll be able to get one since they are so damn picky about who gets them.

Damn that sucks. Thanks for the advice. If I max out my deductible this year I'm going to see a hand specialist and find out what I can do, it's basically just tendon damage that makes it so the bones shift slightly out of place if I put too much strain on them.

That sucks that you have a condition like that. I can't imagine my life without drumming in it.

It's really minor and rarely ever bothers me, the only reason why I know I have it is because of Kung Fu and drumming in Rock Band for long periods of time.

Hmm I'm trying to think of the style. I know I was doing Chen Style Tai Chi which was fantastic. Kung Fu I think I was just doing basic with some specialized styles thrown in. Kung Fu is really hard on your body and I think the wrist locks are part of what is giving me trouble. I don't have time to do either now but when I get back into law school I'm definitely going to start doing Tai Chi again.
