Everquest 2 now free???

So I played eq2 for a few years starting in 05 - really liked it.  It changed a lot over the time (mostly to copy WoW).  After playing both I really still can't say which is better on the whole.

That being said... there's now a dumbed down version that's free to download and free to play.  Obviously attracting the buy our in game shit for profits.  It's the entire game with all but one expansion (lvl 80 cap).  Limitations include which classes you can play (8 instead of 24, buy you can buy the rest for like 7 bucks each), how much gold per level you have have, how many backpack spaces you get etc.

I started a character with my irl friend who i used to play with.. if anyone is interested - I don't play much due to law school et al. but since it's free an hour or 2 per week doesn't hurt my bank.

So ya... if you wanna join and have people to play with every now and then, or just tool around yourself... get it; it's a great game - I just grew out of paying per month for something, so this is big news for me (and hopefully not too much of a detriment for school haha)
