Got to try out the 3DS at PAX; specifically Ocarina, Resident Evil, Steel Hunter (or whatever the sub game is called), and Kid Icarus.

The 3d effect is neat, and didn't seem all that eye-straining (though I wasn't playing for very long). It does tend to go out of focus even if you move the screen slightly to the side, so you have to hold it very carefully.  Graphics on everything looked great. The analog nubbin is a little odd, but I could probably get used to it. Ocarina was the best of what I played overall. The sub game was neat, but didn't really seem to have any depth (ha!) to it. Icarus could probably be really interesting, but it didn't have a left-handed play option, so I found the controls awkward for me to play right handed, and that was pretty distracting.

Ocarina of Time 3DS Crammed with New Stuff

http://www.destructoid.com/zelda-ocarina...6366.phtml

Now they are just gonna torture me as I wait a year or more to get the 3DS, knowing that Ocarina of Time isn't just a port like I thought it was gonna be.

I reserved one because I had enough from my tax return and left over bday money.

Tried out the demo station at best buy, I like it. System feels very well-made and has clacky buttons. I'm in on buying one for sure, also it helps that I need a new DS system.

I tried the 3ds on sunday.. They had pilot wings up, and it was a fun game. As for the 3d itself, it was  kinda uncomfortable having to bend over to get the effect to work, but when the effect was in, man did it work. Analog stick on it is fantastic and not awkward at all. I can't wait to get a non demo version...

I tried Pilotwings today and it just gave me a headache with full 3D. I don't see myself using 3d too much, but it's nice it looks like a slightly shinier PSP now.

Also whoo my computer is back. It's been a while since I've posted here

I agree here, full 3D (at least on pilotwings) is overkill. The AR Games work well though, I managed to run them by displaying a picture of the card on my phone and accessing the home menu (hold L+R+Start+Select when you power on the system), and was fine with full 3d. I won't be using full 3D, but I will use some while I play. On the other hand I am not amused by pilotwings at all, not picking it up on launch. I am looking forward to being able to go online with DS games again since my school's internet hates that stuff. So exciting!

Did a little testing of the 3DS with Pilotwings and the 3D is entertaining, but nothing too amazing.  I actually was abit more impressed with the analog slider and how smooth it was to use lol The 3D took alittle bit to adjust, but once I focused in, I could definitely see the depth, though the plane never quite settled in right, perhaps needing to play with the slider more.  A slick piece, but with so few games being released, the store being held back to May, I can't see much of a reason to fight the rush at launch for it.  Then again, my inner impatient tech geek wants me to buy this as soon as possible and I'm fighting to keep that held back lol

Unless they pulled some magic voodoo with the 3DS, normal DS games are probably going to still require a WEP or totally open network.

yeah, full 3d was hard to focus on. I found that if you put the slider around the middle, it worked well enough without too much straining.

Depends on the game, pokemon black/white they had the forethought to code in all the newer standards even if the DS Fat/Lite aren't compatible in anticipation of the 3DS

I meant older DS games, like tetris or whatever.

Until you get paired with a bunch of people in Japan who do nothing but play Tetris all day. Five second matches.
