Typing this on my PS3 :l

So one of the things that prompted the new purchase in the other thread is a problem with my MSI P6N in that it won't POST or even beep. Started a few weeks ago. Wouldn't do anything but power up. Somehow temporarily fixed it by turning it off and taking out the battery until CMOS reset, then going from there. I had to do it again the next day because I forgot. Now, several weeks later I havn't rebooted since then, I forgot and now nothing works. Taking out the battery doesn't do anything and it simply won't do anything no matter what I do. Ideas? Sorry for the grammar, OSK pisses me off.

Do you have a little LED on the motherboard thats on at all times when power is connected to the PSU?

Do the fans spin up?

Yes, and it's on. It powers up completely fine it appears, besides the no POST or beep. I've already done a minimal power usage boot, checked accessories, and even re-set the CPU to see if it somehow got jarred. Absolutely nothing worked but the battery thing the first time, and now that doesn't even work. My mobo doesn't appear to have a jumper for resetting CMOS, else I'd just do that

Yank everything out of the board, including the memory. Have everything disconnected from the power except the mobo. Only leave the CPU in. Try to power it on, see if you get any beeps then.

If you do, add in the memory and try again. Then video card, see if it'll post.

Already did that, one of the first things I did. I'm fairly certain it's the mobo. I'm just trying to get help on getting it fixed until I can get my new one

I'd say pull the memory out, swap the order, and fire it up.

I had a similar issue and that's what seemed to fix it.

If that fails, go for the Hek troubleshooting method.

Never mind.

Yeah, exactly. I'm not a nub, believe that.

Also, PS3 browser sucks and can't send queries 90%of the time. I'd really appreciate if someone could link the studio version of these songs

Computer problems (like car problems) rarely get better on their own. They only get worse. Your mobo is probably toast, especially if the HeK troubleshooting method still doesn't give you results. Not because it's HeK, but because that's the only way you can narrow it down to a single piece of hardware (other than the mobo). Your warning was when it started a few weeks ago - you should've gotten a new mobo at that point. Sorry.

I just realized y'all don't have a multiquote button on this forum, /rageface

@HeK, That was what my plans were, but considering I had a temporary fix, I was hoping I wasn't just lucky and there was something I could do. I guess not.

@at0m, I'm not made of money. I'm jobless and I'm dry on cash, my parents are buying me the parts for my birthday in april.

Also, i have to lul pretty hard at the "professionals" at techsupport forum. They like to argue with me that it's my PSU and nothing else because it's "old and crappy" when I bought it last autumn, and it barely has >2k hours on it. It's a Fatal1ty 550w gaming PSU that worked just fine when I put it in a PC running an Antec 500w, and I put my old 600w noname that I really doubt was 600w in my PC, and the same problem. But nope, my PSU is obviously channeling the problems mentally to the other PSUs to make me falsely assume it's the mobo.

No offence Voyevoda, but why the hell did you even post with questions?

As soon as someone posts any form of help, you're a passive smartass about it saying lolo I did that I'm not a fucking nub or you post a large paragraph on why you're ignoring the opinions you requested. Seems rather counter-productive to me.

I'd send you my spare, but it's got the same problem. It's also a uATX HTPC mobo, so it doesn't have much RAM, has a shitty graphics card and proc in it.

Because I'm not omnicient, and there may be something I havn't thought of or done that could help me. Getting second opinions is a smart thing to do. If I already did something, I'm going to tell you guys I already did it to rule it out. If it feels better on your egos, I can pretend I didn't do it yet and come back after watching a movie and give you the results. No offense.

(HeK, you've been nothing but helpful in your posts trying to help me, so I'm not directing this at you.)

I could do without the drama right now, thanks. I've never ignored anything anyone posted, everything said has already been done, and I stated that. I said one time that I'm "not a nub" as a reasurrance that I've done all the standard troubleshooting, not to be a cocky dick like you seem to read it as. Considering I had a lot of work and a research paper to get done this weekend, yeah, I may be a bit pissy and it MAY be rubbing off on my posts. But it may of been a better idea to just tell me to cool my jets and give me something new to try, instead of telling me I'm a smartass who's ignoring everyone's advice.

As a recap
The problem: No POST or beeps
I've done: part by part testing and nailed it to the mobo
Why I need help: Got a boot by letting CMOS reset after doing all the shit from before. I have no clue why. It won't do it again, but this could point to a fixable problem.
